    Well,

    So I’m all over the place here and need a bit of advice& help.

    A few months back on our exploration trip of the HUMPS I wasthe lucky FU@K that damaged his Tacoma.

    After a long time waiting and hoping that everything wasfine my insurance company ended up totaling the vehicle do to water damage.

    So with that said, I’m not 100% sure if I should get anotherTacoma..? What do you guys think, should I not let that problem faze me..?

    I’ve had a lots of Rigs in the past, 2 Rubicon’s an FJ-80, aDiscovery II I wheeled all of them and was always cautions of the terrainaround me. I guess I feel like crap due to the Tacoma taking on water, it wasmy mistake not the trucks. But I keep thinking “oh if I would have had aRubicon, this wouldn’t be a problem.” Notsure what I should do…? What do you guys think…?

    Its really your preference. All I can say is that I have owned my Tacoma for 9 years and I love it! I fear that I have become to attached to it and will never be able to let go. On a up note, its like Christmas you get togo truck shopping.

    Honestly, Damage just happens it doesnt really matter what car your driving at the time. you should consider whats gonna fit how you drive better. Most Everyone on this site will swaer by the Tacoma but I have friends that love jeep, both are very capable vehicles... Sorry that probably didnt help

    i would have to say that any of the vehicles mentioned can off road well but you have to consider the majority of the time you are on paved surface. gotta get what suits you for the road and then make it capable off road for your preference.

    and yes you will get the tacoma bias around here

    Everyone here so far has made valid points. I can tell you that I plan to drive my PreRunner for a long time & I will most likely by a Tacoma exactly like the one you had, even the same color. As you know my truck is Silver also.

    The Rubicon has front & rear locking diffs. The Tacoma doesn't. But you can do the yellow wire mod & get very close to having the front wheels locked & you already have the locker with the TRD OR.

    As previously stated, how often are you going to off-road compared to on-pavement? Also, Jeeps have come a long way as far as reliability goes (I still think that the old inline 4.0 they had up until '03 was their most reliable power plant) but compared to a Toyota, I don't know.

    Also, do you want a pick-up or an SUV? The Rubicon is more of an SUV so it's a tough comparison. From the little bit that I know I will say this. The Rubicon is more off-road ready than the Tacoma TRD OR right out of the box but again, it depends on what you are looking for in a vehicle.

    4Runner Trail is my all time favorite vehicle I've driven. Everything about is is excellent. Yours is badass looking.

    Personally, if I was to need to replace my Taco I'd probably look for a DCLB 4x4. Aside from the afore mentioned 4Runner, I enjoy my Tacoma far too much to consider another vehicle.

    LOL...!!! true, everyone here loves TACOMAS...!!! But yes I see your point. I drive 90% on the HWY. The 10% I do off-road isn't hardcore.

    Yes, that's very true. But keep in mind a Jeep can be washed out inside without any problems. I wasn't disappointed on the trucks off-road ability. it was actually perfect, I got out of the ditch alone on stock tires.

    On Saturday I drove the JK Rubicon 2 Door. I HATE the 4door, I know its longer wheel base and is obviously a better expedition/longtravel rig.

    But man, not sure if it’s me or what. A Jeep to me is a 2door no roof no doors type of rig. Put big tires low lift and wheel it…!!!



    I will say although the JK is an uber nice off-roader andsolid axel a huge plus off-road it does have its down falls. It’s extremely small,no room whatsoever. My wife is pregnant with our 1st it would be apain to put in the car seat plus all his things in the JK. That Solid Axel onthe HWY isn’t fun after 30 min. Build quality and attention to detail is ultracrap. The hood wouldn’t line up, the rear door underneath wasn’t fully painted.The passenger’s door was missing clips on the main panel. That’s just a few ofthe things that caught my eye.



    SOOO…!!!



    I now understand why I truly love the Tacoma, plus I havetires as well as a portion of the suspension sting in my office. Long storyshort, I’m getting another Tacoma….!!!

    Very true, I've had 2 TJ's 2005 SWB Rubicon & 2006 LWB Rubicon.
    both we're very temperamental. I did a 1/2" body lift on the 2006 to tuck & clear the T-case. Worst mistake, thing rattled like a 25 year old car.
