I'm 6'1 180. It's hard for me to gain too. I would like to get to about 200. My metabolism is just soo fast. I get stronger but not bigger.

Good for you Seth! If I could I would take some of your weight!

Currently 6'3 & 207 lbs. Need to work on torso and abdominals because I had two surgeries resulting in not being able to sit to do ab workouts.

Will be taking Protein, a fat burner, and creatine while working out. Also have to make a log so I can track everything more efficient.

Congrats Seth, props to you and it was a great idea making this thread. Don't forget to take measurements of yourself as unflattering as they may be you can get a good idea on how well your progress is going.

Seth, I am with ya! I am into week two of a 30 day detox. I hit the scales at a girthy 243lbs and have already dropped 10 say good progress. The gym I go to has me on a killer program focused on core and cardio. I am built thick so gaining muscle is no problem and have already seen changes after only 7 workouts! My energy is up I am sleeping better and just feel better. So stick with it man!

I can definitely appreciate what you're about to do. I am 5'11" and until about 6 months ago I was 200lbs. Not way overweight but horribly out of shape. I've watched my kids do judo for a while and finally said "I'm just gonna do it". I had to run off the mat the first 4 classes and puke my guts out after doing the mat work. It just took everything I had to go hard for 2 minutes with someone that was much better than me. Now, I can feel my strength and stamina building up so fast it's incredible, each week I can just see myself getting stronger and in better shape (plus I feel like I get a decent night's sleep now, esp. after a night class). I'm not going to quit, I'm the oldest guy there but I still love it. Just get into the habit of doing what you know you need to, it makes it so much easier if it becomes a habit. Best of luck!!!

Keep at it! I build muscle pretty easily too. after a month or so I will probably start throwing weight training into the mix. for now im going to focus on cardio.

One of the major reasons to do this is some day when we have kids I want to be a good example so they grow up healthy.

I will have to do this.. I was just going to go by how i look and weight.

    Seth...
Just said a prayer, that you succeed in your goal.
I am going through the same exact deal "right now". I lost about 30 about 2 years ago, but recently put 24 back on. In the last 8 weeks I got off 17 of the 24, I have about 8 more to go, to meet my goal. One HUGE thing that helped me is this. Being from Alabama, I am a huge "sweet tea" fan, yes I know that it is not good for you. But 8 weeks ago I cut out fried foods, red meats, soft drinks, desserts, sweets of any kind, BUT I still have my glass of sweet tea every day and this is the reason why. If I cut out absolutely everything I love to eat or drink, I know that I would not be successful in getting the weight off. By keeping one thing I like in my diet, it gives me something to look forward to having everyday. Now I eat lots of grilled chicken, turkey and salads. And I got into having a 30 minute appointment with myself everyday, and that is to walk 2 miles. So far, so good, I get comments almost everyday how much better I look and I feel much better that I did 8-10 weeks ago. Also, I have 2 precious grand-children that I want to play with for many years to come. Good Luck.

Well props to you man!! Im trying to do the very same thing. I was down to like 185 last year but now Im sitting at 207. I have been working out for almost 2 months now mainly weights but with some P90X every once in a while. I have also almost stopped all my soda drinks for the past 2 months all water and lots of it!(occasional diet soda). Im still at 207ish but I have gained some muscle and lost some fat. Also my max has went up by 10lbs since Iv been working out. So all I can say is keep up the good work and it will pay off!!!

I just finished up a weight loss contest at work. The contest lasted for 6 weeks, and there were 12 people competing. I weighed in at 231, and final weigh-in was 198. I just watched my calorie intake, and did a lot of cardio. I did about an hour to an hour and a half worth 4-5 times a week. I still ate what I like, just not as much of it. Now that its over, I am back on weights. Still doing about 45 minutes of cardio each night.
