I just passed the "20 pounds lost" threshold. I Started this journey about 2 months ago at 244 lbs. I weighed in at 223 after my run yesterday. I also registered for the Disneyland Half Marathon in September...which is non-refundable and non-transferable, so there's no turning back now!! :)

    Very good!....

Well the holiday weekend slowed me down a bit. I was on track to lose 4-5lbs this weekend and ended up only losing 2. I definitely enjoyed the BBQs this weekend. At least I still managed to lose 2 over all this week. Back to it hard core this week.

time your carbs. try not to eat many carbs after 5:00pm. then stick with vegatables and protein. also casein protein right before bed with a dose of flaxseed oil or a handful of shelled walnuts to further slow down digestion. try and eat only slow carbs during the day time or up until dinner. quinoa is the best slow carb there is it has a full profile of amino acids and is the slowest digesting carb there is. try upping your water consumption to 12 cups a day this will help knock out some of the subcutaneous water weight you are carrying around. fast carbs like sugars and white flesh potato's are only good in relatively small amounts when your done with your work out, fast carbs will help replenish your glycogen stores that you will most likely deplete during excerise. other than that they have no place in your diet at all. saturated fat should be kept at around 7 to 9 grams a day this ratio stays the same no matter what weight you are. protein alot of study's have been done and 1 gram per pound of body weight is best for people who are going to weight train, just remember to adjust as you lose weight. i'm a professional strength coach/personal trainer and i also specialize in sports nutrition and supplementation. if you ever have any questions shoot them my way and i will do all that i can to help. this takes alot of guts to post this on a public forum. but if i where you i would consult a trainer at your gym or speak with someone who can calculate your BMR. the BMR is important because it tells you exactly what your body needs to function at rest. then you can build a diet around this and just recalculate when you drop 5 to 8 pounds to stay optimal. information is power when it comes to this subject so i thought i would give you some basic info that hopefully will help you achieve your goals what ever they may be. good luck with this buddy.

How is that diet coming? Tough during the holidays. Curious to hear how your doing.
I'm really mad at myself for letting myself go. Currently I'm a junior in college and for being a college student i have a really busy schedule with working multiple jobs and balancing at least five classes a semester. When i was a junior in hgh school i weighed about 315 pounds. I'm only 5'9 so that is a lot of weight. Senior year of high school I was fed up, so i started doing crazy amounts of lifting and cardio, and just watched what I ate and I got down to 220. Now I'm at 270, and I have been stuck at ths weght for about two years now.
I'm sick of being really heavy, so it is my new years resolution to at least get down to the 220's by the summer time and by the time I graduate college (May 2012) I want to be in shape enough to join the military. I am going to give myself one more day of being lazy and on January 1st I am going to start working out again.
Best of luck to everyone trying to reach fitness goals, and happy new year.

Is this still going? How many people we got in on this? Very interested in joining in.

Since graduating high school in 2000, I've been on a weight roller coaster. I'm 5' 6". At graduation, I was 195. In college I worked as a tire guy. Through constantly lifting wheels / tires all day everyday and watching my intake, I got down to 170 lbs. After college, I got back up to 190. In 2006-2007 through doing WeightWatchers I got down to 156. Since getting married and buying a house and trying to work all available hours / jobs to make extra money, I've been eating too much garbage and not exercising. Right now I'm at 178. Would like to get down to 155 or so, or gain the muscle to override the fat. Not looking to get bulked up but toned would work. Just want to lose the gut. I know it means cutting out the beer, margaritas, and cheeseburgers but I'm ready.
