FYI..transmissions are coming off factory floor low on fluid. Got a call from dealer on Friday and experienced some shifting abnormalities last week. Just got back and was .5 qt low. running so much better! it's also a sealed system so you can't check yourself :frusty:
    get yours checked!!

There are literally a million threads on here about this issue lol.

Glad to hear you got your's taken care of though, a lot of guys on here get a lot of crap from their dealership about having it checked.

I doubt they will check it manually. They will hook up their computer and it will tell them it's full

^^ yup. This is exactly what I mean. I don't know what it is with Toyota dealerships lately. I don't have a 2016 but I did buy a used '04 recently...I've had to take it in a few times for service issues I want addressed and they've been giving me the biggest bullshit excuses for things like I'm some alien from another planet that has no idea how a vehicle is supposed to work. For instance (and this is one of a few), I had an issue with a grinding sound while shifting (manual trans). I took it into the local dealership, they had it for 8 hours and eventually tell me that my trans is grinding because I have aftermarket floormats. I tell them "bullshit" (basically) and they say they've removed them and everything is fine. I pick up the truck and yup, you guessed it, the issue is still there. I took it to a local mom 'n pop mechanic and he takes one look at it and sees that my skidplate is bent into the transfer case, fixes it and the issue is resolved.

It's really frustrating, and I've been to 3 dealerships in my area trying to find one that doesn't treat me like a part of their bottom line.

    /rant over

I love Toyota trucks but they need to keep the dealerships that sell their product in check...it's getting out of hand.

Agreed..talk to you like they are rocket scientists! I've been lucky so far but hear horror stories all the time..local honest mom & pop shop is the best..will be there after warranty so I don't have to play dumb..but that's worked so far:annoyed:

Did they sell it to you? I bring it to different place so told them dealership called me and said"they are coming off factory low..make sure you have it checked" push to have it manually done.

Agreed. Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you choose to look at it) I bought a warranty with my truck so the dealership is usually my first choice in trying to have an issue resolved. I almost regret purchasing the warranty though because it's next to useless when the service department you're dealing with is useless themselves.

Can you let me know how yours goes?

This is my second day off I'm spending at Claremont toyota after I already yelled at the service advisor last time and had to get in touch with the client relations manager who finally talked to the service manager and he agreed to "manually" check with their "machine"/"computer".

I basically refuse to spend another day here.

My Tacoma is a lease and personally could care less if the transmission goes out, I'll just trade it back in, was planning on keeping it, but not anymore the way it's been going with Toyota.

if it's a lease and you don't care, why even bother spending days off at a dealership ?

    Dumb question:

I ordered a manual trans Tacoma yesterday. Will be here in 4 weeks.

Is the trans fluid check on 6MT same as the AT?

    Thank you

I specifically told him I wanted it manually done and explained to him I knew what the process was and that it took time but I want it done! The service manager said we will get it taken care of ASAP and thanks for your business!

I have a 2016 DCSB 4x4 SR on order, will be here next week. I an making in the assumption that since its the tow package affected trucks that Toyota is skipping the step of topping off the trans after circulating the fluid into the aux cooler. Hopefully this will be addressed in the later build dates. I will be telling the dealer that manually inspecting this is part of my delivery acceptance. The grease is easy enough for me to do, as well as the U bolts. I am picking my battles with them.
