GetAGrip Shift Knob Install on 2017 Tacoma (Automatic)

Anyone have any experience installing these: (https://www.gogettagrip.com/collect...kit/products/vans-waffle-toyota-auto-grip-kit) on the 3rd gen Tacoma?

They mention you need to remove the chrome ring on the top of the shifter boot. I have zero experience with this and there don't seem to be any install videos on youtube.

See the little ring directly flush to the bottom of the shift knob? Push that down by grasping each side with your finger tips. Unscrew knob

 

Yes! Great - they mention that you need to remove the chrome ring completely (by taking apart the center console and removing the zip tie under it), sorry if that wasn't clear but that's the part I'm unsure about. I assume the install is similar to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EhdA-7oLdvc ?

push down on the chrome piece under the stock shifter....

pops off.....

spin the stock shift knob off (lefty loosey righty tighty)....

spin the GetaGrip on...

BOOM

there is no adapter for the chrome ring to "adapt" to the new shifter...

get creative

Yep! Was contemplating using some mtb grips I had laying around to slide over the aluminium piece they ship https://www.gogettagrip.com/collect...-transmission-shifter-grip-adapter-2005-20015.
