    Hi all,

Checking in from Coopersburg Pa. I spend most of my time on ih8mud and just found this site.

Looking to add a 2010 Tacoma quad cab 4wd manual transmission to share my garage with my 94 Landcruiser.

Besides frame rot, they sound like fairly solid vehicles.

I test drove a 2010 TRD quad cab 4wd manual transmission truck today and think I'm going to pick it up this week. No rust I can see besides the hitch and this spot under the cab. Starts up no issue, squeaking idler pulley, needs a passenger front wheel bearing but otherwise runs and drives great. Reminds me of my 91 Xtra cab but with some power. Fun to drive!

Any input is appreciated. Looking forward to learning more about these trucks here

    Rare truck.

how does 2nd gen compare to 80 series?

You probably want to make sure it’s not extreme rust punch a hole through the frame by throwing a marker at it.

light surface I’ve removed on exhaust for example by spraying water and acid rust remover from Home Depot. Or cleaned and touched up spots with paintable rust converter spray.

    Hey.

My uncle had a truck just like that one. Had it for a long time before finally trading it in this past year. Never had any problems to my knowledge. Solid find.

Love the LC. Have a 100 series myself. And work on 80 series all the time at work.

Regarding the rust on the Taco, it looks pretty substantial to me. But I'm spoiled here in SoCal. Unless the truck is a super great deal, I would search for another example. 2nd gen is my favorite gen Tacoma. That floor rust would be a deal breaker for me.
