I recently got a Rough Country Retractable aluminum bed cover, I was wondering how to go about getting a car wash now. Should I leave it open, close it, or just wash it by hand from now on?

I personally would always choose the wash by hand but if you prefer the car wash just leave it closed and wash as normal.

I've gone through carwashes with both a soft tonneau and a Softopper. Washing at home is my preference, but no issues from a handful of times each.

Mods? We don't need no stinking mods.
I have a Gator tri-fold aluminum bed cover and I always leave it closed when I go through the car wash. Never had a problem.

Hate to hijack the thread, but since we're on the topic of car washes, has anyone gone thru one with ditch lights?

    This and that
I have never had any good luck in car washes. License plate mount ripped down, 2 different cars. Only went through because it was free, with the only change.

Why would it be an issue with or without the cover opened?

I wash my cars with a pressure washer and foam cannon. I usually only wash out the bed when it obviously needs it.

I have a Rollnlock and just leave it closed when doing a wash. They are made to direct the water out when driving in the rain and will do the same however you wash it. Some water gets in near the tailgate usually but it’s no more than a splash.

If your ditch lights cannot survive a carwash, then I would be pretty suspect of the mounts when wheeling.

This depends on what style of wash your going through. If it's touch less your fine if it is a friction wash with wraps/brushes that's a hard no i have seen so many items ripped on vehicles over the years.

I have gone through touch less car washes with my soft Xtang covers for years and never had issues with it, you will be fine closed.
