Pictured is the truck in question (blue) and my truck parked next to it

Here's the specs of this truck

    ~V6
    ~5 Speed manual
    ~Paradise blue paint job
    ~Single cab (my favorite configuration)
    ~Dealer installed 4.10 gear ratio
    ~Original owner
~Paint matched bed cap (also favored by me)

I discovered this truck at shoprite and immediately fell in love with it, I put a piece of paper with my # and went on with my day. Well, 3 months later he texts me saying he's interested in selling.

It has all the original paper work, and seems to be well taken care of.

It should be noted though he had the frame patched from the driver's door to the back of the rear wheel well (by a reputable welding shop in our area). Also, the top of one of the rear wheel wells has rot and needs to be addressed.

With that being said it is still an exellent truck and it has my dream specs. Really thinking about selling my '01 daily for this thing.

My '01 has 530,000 miles but a completely rust free frame, not a speck on it. The body is in decent shape rust-wise.

Not sure if I want to sacrafice my 1st gen with an immaculate frame for this, -but- I need to see his offering price, I may have some extra cash so I can have both. We'll see.

I reckon it depends on the price. Personally, I'd be wary about a patched frame.

Patched frame and the fact that you called the body “decently rust free” would be a no for me. My 2003 with 250,000 miles has ZERO rust and the original frame. You also said it had a paint job but the hood looks like it’s missing paint towards the front? In all honest you’re 01 looks in better shape from that pic.

    Stock, more or less...
Frame patch is not a deal breaker. Just give it a good look and tap test. If everthing is rust making every bolt a fight, I'd pass, personally.

    Miles?

Go for both and sell one later if you decide to. I have a winter and summer truck -- it's a good way to go. GL

I don’t live in the rust belt so I would not buy any truck with a patched frame. Maybe that’s acceptable where you live but here it would get the frame replaced or parted out. IMHO

I agree with Pbfender15. What’s better than one killer first gen Tacoma? Two killer first gen Tacomas! Bring it home and see how it fits in your life. Just don’t let your 01 know that she might be getting the axe.

Another vote for two first gens!

What are the specs on your current truck? I see its also a single cab. Is it an auto? Or 4 cylinder? Half a million miles is a lot.
