Has Toyota posted the EPA numbers for the '11 doublecab 4 cylinder 2wd?

I think it might be a tad lower than what you are assuming.

Yes. 19 city, 25 highway. These are the numbers for both Double Cab versions; the new non-Prerunner model, and the Prerunner.

They both have the same MPG numbers.

So most drivers will average around 20 mpg. We will see when we get some new owners logged on.

nah the way i see it i like the size of the tacoma and the power of the v6 great for hunting and just messing around perfect mid-size truck, i like the comfort of the 1/2 ton and and extra room for traveling thats why i picked the 150 if i decided to go bigger

Yeah hunting no problem, ive gone hunting plenty of times with my 08 4x2 PreRunner, just avoid the mud.

I really am proud with the capability these 4x2 prerunners have, but i cant imagine my truck being pulled by an I4, the DC i presume is a lot more heavier than the RC.

    Curb weights:
    Regular Cab 4x2 = 3270
    Regular Cab 4x4 = 3665
    Access Cab Non-Prerunner = 3560
Access Cab Prerunner = 3740 to 4070 (depending on engine/tranny)
Double Cab Prerunner = 3825 to 4190 (depending on engine/tranny/bed size)

So to answer your question the I4 in a DC Prerunner (3825 pounds) is almost 600 pounds heavier than the smallest I4 Tacoma.

I agree. It gets annoying after a while being the taxi to everyone I know, so I got the Access Cab. Personally, I also wanted a longer bed but not a longer truck in general.

To me, it looks like it would be kinda hard trying to park a DC longbed in a tight spot. Never drove a longbed but I'm guessing that it would be harder.

yep, they can sit back there fine. to me, not only does the dc look by far the best, it's by far the most functional and useful overall - causing you to be able to keep it WHEN  you have kids, etc... best of all the worlds combined. i love the sb and have always been able to carry what i needed to, even large stuff. IF i had some very specific need to carry something that had to have the long bed, then i'd consider it, even though i don't like the looks of it. i have an access cab and it drives me crazy not having the dc, but it's worlds ahead of the regular cab.

A 25% increase in mileage is not something to ignore when you are driving a lot of miles. I've driven approximately 2,000 miles per month since buying my '09 in Oct 08. At 25 MPG I've used 1,680 galons. At 20 mpg I've used 2,100 gallons of gas. At $2.50 per gallon that is a saving of $1,050.

Not to mention the $5-6,000 I saved when I bought the truck compared to a 6 cylinder.

    YMMV

One thing a person will most likely be doing is carrying extra passengers in a DC 4 cylinder for added weight. If they are going camping or towing a trailer, it would seem they would need extra horse power. Do they intend on increasing the HP on the 2.7 for the 2011 DC?

Well if you plan on having kids I would go with the double cab cause if the AC of a 2nd gen is anything like the 1st gen, it gets small fast. I fit comfortably in the back of a DC with the seat in front of me pushed pretty far back. I'm 6ft tall just to give you an idea

I have the dc lb and love it. Yes it gets a little tight to park but not too bad. The bed is big enough to haul away yard stuff. If you are thinking about a toolbox def go with the lb, if not you wont even have room for a case of beer back there!

dont get a 4 banger. dont get me wrong the 2.7 is a great engine. But you will the the same mpg on both engines, just know that you will be fighting that engines power. spend the extra and get the v6.
I just made the change over to a 6 awhile ago and I am so happy.

Some things to think about when deciding if you get the short bed you cant haul quads motorcycles or anything really with that short bed. the short bed looks WAY better but is kinda useless.

sorry dont mean to tell you what to do just the things i would think about when getting a new truck.

I bought an 09 access cab and found it just to small so I ended up trading it in for a double cab. For an extra couple grand, well worth it IMO.
