Getting my tranny replaced

Insurance?

 

My truck got where it was lugging or bucking when the torque converter locked up. Had 90k mikes on original fluid, flush and fill and it was fine up until 132k when I traded it in.

 

I have that same type of insurance. It is called mechanical break down insurance. To me it is better than that dealership extended warranty

 

Well nothing wrong with my truck but my work car, a 2015 Nissan Altima, is at the dealer for a new ac compressor and a new cvt transmission.

The insurance he’s referring to is likely the same thing I have which is an extended warranty outside of the dealership. Smart auto care is the one that insures my altima. Adjuster had to come out for the insurance company to be able to proceed with the repair and just waiting for the phone call from dealership probably tomorrow to let me know what the plans are.

 

I bought a similar insurance for a used vehicle. The tranny went to shit and the insurance company only covered $3700 while I paid another $1500. Granted I had a bunch of upgrades done to it to make it more robust.


Insurance is a common practice in used cars. It's also a bit of a scam.

 

Well it also depends on your deductible I have to pay the first 500.00 dollars and my insurance picks up the rest never had to use it but I think it is worth it

I would worry more about the insurance than the transmission.

Some dealerships offer lifetime on the drivetrain as long you are the primary owner of the vehicle and is thru an insurance company. Hendrick Toyota where I got my truck offers it as well. I believe that’s what op is referring too.

The service rep called it insurance, but its my toyota platinum

 

Toyota platinum does 125k, imo its paid for itself 2x already
