Is there a definite way to find out if the 2012's will have this issue? PeeRunner in another thread said they were the same rusting frames. As well as OZ-T. It was in a thread about the gaps of the Weathertechs I believe.

It is the same frame , especially where the problem area is by the cats where there is lapped / layered steel

All vehicle frames rust in those conditions , the Tacomas have a problem area by the cats that should be addressed with maintenance , if you aren't going to maintain your frame in an area with lots of road salt , you are going to see substantial rust on pretty much any vehicle

Look at the 2nd gen frame rot threads , they all develop the perforation in the same area

Rinsing the salt off is the easiest form of preventative maintenance , yes

If you use a car wash power sprayer , make sure they don't recycle their water

You seemed to be pretty sure

And FYI , the frame plugs can be bought and added to earlier trucks however I don't think they make up for a lack of maintenance

And that would be a great big FUCK YOU to the consumers if they know there is a problem and are still using them. But wouldn't surprise me in the least.

You're a negative mother fucker. Goddamn, if you hate it that much or are so convinced it's a POS, then GTFO... sell it and don't fucking log in here. Jesus.

I have heard nothing but good things from 2nd gen owners that I personally know - including my neighbor, whose truck I have looked at closely - who have had theirs re-framed. I had no issues with my 2001 that was re-framed. I sure don't want my 2012 to rust away, but if it does, I know Toyota will step up, so I don't worry about it.

Not negative brother, just speak realistically. So people should be happy that Toyota is Fucking them in the ass when new vehicles are purchased? Laughing all the way to the bank, ha ha ha ha you have a crappy frame. Oops you have shitty wheel bearings also. And who knows what else. And like I said in 2 years it will be gone, and I don't think is an actual need to talk to me that way.

    A) I'm not your brother

    B) Toyota is losing a shit ton of money on frame replacements, I doubt they are laughing. Try $12,000 per unit.

    C) Ok

You are absolutely correct. Once mine is fixed, I'm driving it a 1/4 mile around the auto park circle and parking it at the Ford dealer as a trade. It may/may not last another 10 yrs with a new frame but it will be with someone else.

you guys are so passionate. i wish i cared half as much about anything as people care about these damn frames. if it rusts, get it replaced. if shit gets loose, take it back and tell them to tighten it up. or keep it let it rust. not a big deal either way. its just a fucking truck.
