Hey guys, I've never had a whole new set of wheels and tires put on before. I was just wondering if there were any tips or things to look out for that yall might have, like things to look for that they might screw up when installing.

Got some Falken 265/70/17s to wrap a set of bronze method NV's, will post pics when done.

    Thanks for any help.

Do a walk around and make sure they didn't scratch anything. Other than that it, it is pretty hard to mess anything up.

Check for vibration on the highway when you go home to see if they are balanced correctly.

Depending on what your are changing from, you might need new lug nuts. Have your wallet ready.

Oooh I didn't think about that. I'm coming from stock SR5 alloy wheels - how might I check to see if I need new lug nuts?

New alloys will have a flat washer against the wheel. The SR5 steel's have the acorn shape. I went from the SR5 steels to TRD Pro's and had to have all new lug nuts. Discount Tire did mine and gave me a "break" on them at 3.00 a piece. Also, your TPMS sensors will most likely NOT fit correctly in the new alloys as the stem angle is different. I had them "flip" mine 180 degrees and be VERY careful not to break them when mounting the new tires. That is not really a good fix, but I will live with it until I do the next tire swap.

Just some stuff you might be up against with the swap. I've been through it.

I would definitely inspect the wheels for scratches or damage before you leave the parking lot of the tire place.

Make them roadforce balance the wheels or you'll most likely have vibration.

If he has a 17 sr5 then I'd guess he doesn't have steel wheels.

True. Alloy to alloy should be good to go.

Yeah would recommend an RFB (road force balance). I got my first set of K02s from a small mom and pop shop who did good work and gave me a good price but they had an old not so great static balancer. They ended up struggling to get them balanced and had to put a load of weights on two of them. Didn't seem right to me but they said they got them balanced just fine. Sure enough had good amounts of steering wheel shake on the highway and they pretty much said they couldn't do anything about it except take them back for a full refund. Went to dealership got them RFB'd and not one but two were way out of spec and "unbalanceable". Returned them and got 4 new ones from the dealership and all has been good.

Your dealer roadforce balances? Nice. My dealership sucks. Whenever they are scheduled to rotate tires I tell them not to touch my wheels because I always end up with vibration haha. Discount tire is my go to.

Yeah I was surprised too. First time I had been to the dealership actually - bought my truck out of state. I was calling around to see who had one and sure enough the dealership did. Reluctantly decided to give them a shot and was pleasantly surprised with their service across the board. They only charged me $60 to road force balance them initially and of course an RFB was included when I ended up buying 4 new tires from them.

There's a certain way the tpms is oriented on the mounting machine to avoid damaging them.
    Make sure they all work.

I'll definitely try to get them to RFB the tires, guess that's something i need to call and ask about to make sure they actually have. Should get the tires tonight and have em on after work tomorrow. Thanks again for the tips.

I believe Method NVs are 108mm hub; do you have hub rings?

Torque spec on the lugs is what I would look for. I've seen a lot of stripped lugs due to over tightening or cross threading.
I second whoever above said to BUY THE TIRE WARRANTY! Pays for itself every time.

I do not have hub rings. Sounds like something I need... Thanks for the heads up. Out of curiosity, would you happen to know what dimensions I would need for that? Also, is that something they might carry at the shop, or do I need to order it? Thanks.

Damn you...I thought I was going to be the first one to put the bronze NV's on a quicksand. Awesome selection in stuff man, SUBd because I want to see how they turn out! Ordering mine soon, let me know what additional stuff (if any) is required!
