Try to find a full sized with a NA gas engine, that will probably be the most reliable. I wouldn't trust a small displacement turbo engine from any manufacture if you want it to last 10+ years without major work. Even the diesels are going down hill with all the DEF/ emissions issues.

"Most reliable" doesn't mean what it used to mean. They're all going to sh*t with complexity and emissions equipment. But if it was my money I'd spend as little as I could on an F150 with the V8. Maybe the XLT trim. Not saying it's perfect but they don't have the issues that Dodge and GM have. And it's a conservative, decent looking truck.

They got dragonball z fans designing toyotas these days.

Stock (99.999%) OEM Bed Floor Mat, Front Bed Rail Cargo Net and hooks, Auto-Dim mirror w/Compass and outside Temperature display, TRD Pro Grille, Uni-Filter air pump modification, WeatherTech floor liners f/r. (winter) OEM All-Weather floor mats (summer).
I think it is way over-styled and cluttered by cheap looking additions like those plastic dual hood scoops or whatever they are. They tried to copy the ones on the F-Series and just over did it. The TRD Pro stamping on the tailgate is just way over the top. Looks like an afterthought that the stylist team lost the battle on. A proportionately sized plate or letters on the lower right corner of it would have been enough. Climbing into the seat and seeing that huge display screen would be a deal-killer for me. Analog or LCD Speedo, Tach, Temp, Volts, Oil pressure. I think every vehicle should have full instrumentation, especially a truck, and they could have easily done this on the Tacoma in the right side nacelle with a smaller temp and fuel gauge.

Get it if you want it to sit in the shop because it’s subject to constant recalls.

Shoot at that price..you can keep it. Don't like the way they look. Looks like a box on wheels. Besides I have also seen Y tube videos of people who have them having Turbo problems

the ram with the 5.7 and ford with the 5.0 are good reliable trucks that will go 200K+ miles if taken care of. my last truck was a ram and the radiator developed a small leak at about 55k miles. i replaced the radiator and it was otherwise trouble free and a good solid truck for 100K+ miles until I got rid of it. the fit and finish and quality of materials was/is better than the 3rd gen tacoma. i have owned other ram trucks in the past and they all performed well and i would buy another. i think the ford dealership network is better (at least in my area) and for that reason, i would lean toward the f150 with the 5.0.

i think the f150 is made in the US, the ram in mexico. the fan boys are quick to defend the tacoma when someone questions the quality coming from mexico, but nearly every time the ram is mentioned they tell of their experience where their neighbor's or co-worker's ram that caught fire or fell apart.

i'm sure there are bad experiences just like there are with the tacoma's. while still decent, there is no question toyota quality has declined and the other manufacturer's improved over the last decade. odds are you will get a good truck no matter the brand. if the honda ridgeline had a 6 foot bed, that's what i'd be driving right now.

Well said. I’ll take a NA engine over a turbo 8 days a week.

No Thanks, I will stick to the more affordable Tacomas. Been happy with them over the years.

Any experience, or opinion on Ford's 6.2 and 7.3 gas engines found in the current super duties?

I have only driven one 7.3 gas Ford, with no complaints from me. Wasn't my truck so I don't know what kind of maintenance or issues it has had since I drove it.

    Haven't driven a 6.2 that I can recall.

I just don't see how folks afford these prices. Americans are super broke these days and inflation is insane in the membrane. Wages not keeping up and all, I don't know how they even sell what they sell..

84/96 month financing, leases, etc. Down payments on credit cards. Rolling underwater trade into new purchase. Pulling equity out of homes. All kinds of dumb ways to buy an overpriced depreciating asset.

Some people have money. Some trade in vehicles to bring the purchase price down, or create debt

By the time I was 40 and starting to make good money I wisely decided I wanted less. I am glad I shook the gottahaveititus!

Yep!! That’s the saying I always get from guys at work. You have no kids and can buy as many cars or trucks and pay for them in cash. I mention when I here that my wife and I chose not to have kids.
