    This. The TSA and the airlines publish their rules on line. They are very similar to each other, but the airlines sometimes have slightly different rules on ammunition.

    Use a good quality firearms case, use NON TSA approved locks. At the airport you'll have to declare the guns at the ticket counter and fill out a firearms declaration card (Orange Card). Make sure that the completed card goes inside the case. That's for cases that are not going into suitcases, which I expect you won't be doing with long guns.

    Then you'll hand the case off to the airline. You might be asked to hang around for a few minutes in case TSA wants to open the case. They don't care about the guns themselves, but once in a while a case will set off an alert going through Xray.

    I've flown with handguns and long guns over a dozen times and it's actually pretty easy. TN doesn't, to my knowledge, require a permit for mere possession, just for concealed carry. From my travel there, it's a very 2A friendly state.

    I don't know that moving companies will transport firearms or ammunition and I'm sure that I wouldn't trust them if they did.
