Thank god, the heavy bumpers have left! Onto something light weight and functional! @In4aride WarFab for the win!

    Rtt gone! Going gazelle.

The only thing not leaving is the Leitner Rack, way too functional.

Time to pull some preload and get the Deavers installed.

I respect the light weight approach, way too many TW mods add excessive pounds to our trucks.

Here's the thing about armor: for 95% of us on the forum, aluminum is a better fit for our usecase but people don't like to admit that they never actually get use out of all this heavy steel they're strapping on their daily driver.

If you mostly drive fire roads and light trails then your armor is really an insurance policy or just for looks. You might as well get aluminum so it won't rust and you'll save a ton of wear on your suspension components. People don't like to admit this though and just buy steel stuff so they can cosplay a rock crawler, or because it's cheaper up front. I'd wager that over time with the additional wear and tear you're better off from a cost perspective going with aluminum even.

The one exception to this I'd say is the rear, it's worth investing in steel there because the ass end on these trucks is long and low and even on moderate trails you'll smack it pretty often. RCI sells a steel bumper that will gain you 4 inches of clearance back there for only an extra 20 pounds over stock which seems well worth it to me.

I’ve always wondered why people leave their racks full of shit on it and daily drive it around town like that. I feel as if they want to portray to everyone that they’re “Mr. Adventurer ready for anything”. Granted if you live in the sticks and are by yourself often; I get that. But for the majority of people I see in the cities driving these loaded trucks for no real use anytime soon (offroad is hours away).

Hey, you never know if you're driving down the interstate on your way home from work and need to pitch a tent. Like a boy scout, be prepared

My wife always has to hear my rambling on this lol. Like, "Oh look at this guy, really needed the extra fuel, water, tent, hi lift, spiky shovel, and axe to get to work in the middle of Las Vegas. Exciting life!"

Really like to see this change. I've been building my truck while keeping it light weight being a priority but still having it be highly functional and ready for expeditions in the future. Quite a task! I have a Gazelle tent but plan on going RTT in the future. Can you give me some insight on this change by chance?

Since it’s pretty uncommon to see someone sell their RTT for a ground tent I’m looking for his personal reasoning behind doing it. Maybe there’s something I haven’t considered since I don’t know everything after all. If it just comes down to not needing it then that’s cool too.

Well the team at WarFab has exceeded every expectation on their promises to help modify and customize some of my details to help fit the truck!!!! Thanks to the entire crew @In4aride for the communication on their social media contacts for helping the process go smoother! The custom additions were a nerf bar up front and they raised the rear bar up to fill in the cut from my previous bumper!!! Here’s some pix!!!!

I got rid of the RTT for a ground tent. More room, you can stand up in it, it's easier to store, less weight, you don't have to pack it up to move your truck, cheaper, the list goes on.

Most practical on one hand... looks like shit on other. Hmmm, choices.

If I was truly fixing one up for off road, it would be tubes for sure. Best way but ugly and pretty does not help you limp out of the woods at 3am.

Slight rear end collision between my steel rear bumper and a Camry. Did a couple of grand damage to the Camry and I literally sanded the steel bumper impact point and hit it with some rattle can paint. That was last year and can't even tell where she hit me. Aluminum may have held up as well or possibly gouged and/or bent. Just my two cents.

And if she'd hit you a little harder your frame would have bent. Same up front.

The problem with replacing impact technology with rigid heavy duty stuff is that to a point it works well. Bumps, deer, etc. After whatever that point is, things get worse.

    So it's a coin toss.

It's kin to having a roll bar in a small sports car on the street. Get hit from the side or rolled over, it may well help. A lot. Get hit from the rear and you may crack your skull, since most don't wear helmets on the street.
