Keep in mind your paying for some of those add-ons though. I'm kicking myself in the butt for not waiting until the economy went to hell and I could have gotten a sweeter deal.

I'm kind of with Radelix (?) on this one - I want a TOUGH truck first, then, maybe some other stuff. I do, however, like the stability thing. Don't want a lot of fancy stuff breaking all the time though. For me, toughness/reliability are the most important things in a vehicle, car or truck. Hmmm, now, this gets me to thinking, since I don't yet own a Tacoma ('96 Chevy - next truck will be Tacoma), maybe I will go for an '09 or newer when I do buy; looking to buy within two years... patience me man, patience...

Although I like the side airbags, and love the Magnetic Grey on my new '09, I personally would have preferred an '08, but all the base models were gone by the time I was ready to buy. The back seats (in the access cab), and LED tail lights are poorly designed in my opinion. Plus the backup cam (which is there on ALL '09's regardless of whether the screen is installed) makes it that much more of a target for tailgate theft.

Things change. It's even worse with computers. Buy what you like at the time and don't look at what came out until you're ready to buy again. It's the only way to avoid buyer's remorse. :)

Yes, glad someone esle is with me. But I do want to say that if the extra stuff is what you want, far be it from me to say something about it. I live in the city so the back up camera would be nice but im not gonna worry about not having it. TRD seats would be nice too but i like mine as they are, kinda remind me of a stiffish sofa. But MY main factor is I want the legendary reliablility. I also feel that stuff can me added to my liking. in closing it is your truck and do with it what you please. I look forward to what everyone does to their truck since it gives me ideas.

    [/RANT]

P.S. The fancy stuff does cost more but with the economy trying to pry its way from the sewer, they are trying to move trucks so who knows maybe you could have gotten a better deal

Nah, I bought a leftover 06 in March 07 at a heck of a price, all I was looking for was 4wd, DC w/ tow & that is exactly what I got and am happy with.

I agree. What's the point of a rear slider if you can't use it easily. I used it all the time on my previous access cab. I wonder if you can get an aftermarket one??

The only thing the backup camera does for me on my X-Runner is give me something "cool" to show my friends when they see the truck for the first time. Easier for me to look over my shoulder. Better/Wider view that way. And like someone else said.. 08 and older owners didnt get screwed.. We paid for these "upgrades"...

Yep +1 That's why most of us got a Toyota. We've all got a hell of a truck.

and nice job with the Rant HTML, thought that was funny.

Same reason most of the vehicles I own have had the reaview mirror ripped off the windshield entirely. It is unneccessary and creates a blind spot of it's own. Some vehicles are worse than others regarding placement though. Dad wouldn't let us take the driving test until we could back the boat into the garage from off the street with less than 1 pull-up (curtains drawn in the rear windows of a full size van).

It was about 110 degree turn blind-side into the drive, if you dropped it into the ditch it required an hour of jacking and board placement to get out. (My younger brother refused to pull up and we spent the next week pointing at the bottle jack in the garage and laughing.)

leasing is an option. That way you only pay depreciation and interest and keep up with the ever-changing model. Thing is you got to have money like me.:D

i got an 09 cause they didnt have any 08s with the options i wanted. 09s dont have a mechanical LSD which I think is important. instead, we got a camera. the camera I thought was a gimic...until I started backing into places like usual. Its really nice to see how much room your bumper has to another object. now i need one for the front bumper :D
