Will the dealer try to keep my stock cloth seats? I sure as shit hope not, since I bought those seats and I'll be paying for them every month for the next 5 years.

Also, are the seats easy to install? As in can I do it myself? I'm pretty handy, but if it's a huge job I'd rather have them do it.

Only reason I ask is because they said they'd need my truck for a weekend. I thought that was a little ridiculous so if I can do it myself I'd rather go that route. Thanks guys!

Is there a write up or pictorial that you know of that shows the process?

Most likely they will just replace the cloth with the leather. The physical seats themselves will remain the same. And likely they will keep the cloth when they give you the truck back.

It's not hard to do yourself, just time consuming. I did mine in 2 full weekends. And I'm a total newbie to mechanical things. I just took my time and made sure to read and follow every write up I could find.

This is the write up I followed: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/technical-chat/89333-diy-leather-interior.html

If you didnt already order the covers. Check out katskins. If you're bent on ordering and installing at the dealer then tell them before they start work that you want all parts that are removed from the truck to be returned.

Wait, so the factory leather package is just a set of seat covers? I was under the impression that for 1250 dollars I'd be getting completely new seats. If they are just covers that's a rip off.

Make sure they are using Katzskin leather. If they are that leather is actually better than the leather that comes from the factory. Also katzskin runs about 1,000 installed so jew them down!

Yup. You're paying most of that for labour. A good set of katskinz will run you around $1,000

    Hey Guys

I had leather in my Rav4. Once you've had leather you never go back. I'm looking at the Katzkins plus heat. First quote I got here in Toronto was for $1700 installed. I'm shopping around.

What if I just find my seats uncomfortable. I'm tall and have lower back issues. Seats with firmer lower back support are better. My wife's Jag X-Type has awesome seats. I'm finding my Taco seats don't quite cut it. Are there after market seats out there for Tacomas, like Recaros or something more affordable?

Lovin' my truck otherwise. Had it for a month now, Access cab, TRD, standard.

    Thanks for any tips.

    A.T.

look at Clazzio leather seats, they are on sale for $450 for front and rear. solid color, extra if you want 2 tone. go Truckleather.com and check out pictures, they come highly recommended. i think i am ordering the all vinyl for $285, had leather in my f150 Lariat and would rather the perforated vinyl that looks like leather and easier to take care of.

I got my katskinz from jhuey. $1200 CAD shipped. So your quote of $1700 installed sounds reasonable for what they are.

To each his own but I wouldn't get leather seats again in my life. I have owned cars/trucks with genuine leather seats and they are too hot during the summer and feel cold as heck in the winter.

My fat ass has no problems with it being too cold in the winter. :p Wife hates them though without heaters.

A little of this and a little of that.
    John (DavisBladeWorks),

The leather seats will only be covers over your existing seats. The fabric covers will be removed & the leather covers installed. You will not get new seats.

I had this done through S.E. Toyota when I purchased my 2011. The leather quality is OK, not Honda, Cadillac, or Mercedes quality, but decent for a truck.

They only had my truck one day. Dropped off in morning, given a Camry to go home in, picked up truck at 6 pm that same day. Try to schedule it like that if you can. Keeping truck over the weekend seems too long.

Lots of guys like the Katskins, & Clazzio leather covers. Buy & have an upholstery shop install if you don't think you can do it yourself.

    Good luck.
