Which fasteners are coming loose? Mine seems to be fine so far. I had a small alignment issue for the rear hatch door that has been adjusted and resolved. So far that’s my only negative experience. I’ve had it for about three weeks and gotten in the dirt once so far.

I wish GFC well. However, it is interesting to me just how little trouble I have with all of the various truck caps and work boxes I’ve had on the back of my work pickups for decades. Mostly fibreglass and some aluminum, with side doors and ladder racks, and windows, and tool boxes, and lights etc. Albeit no tent.

My point being........these old companies like Leer and Century and Alucab etc, probably suffered similar issues for years and years while they perfected their engineering. There is a lot more to making a pickup truck accessory survive the most basic conditions without rattling apart than meets the eye. I’m sure GFC will get there eventually.

Thinking about putting a deposit on a GFC but was wondering if anyone had any feed back on dust and dirt on the v2. With the new seals they have does it do a good job of keeping the dust and dirt out?

Subed. Also wondering how much space is left in the camper after it is shut - enough for a sleeping bag and pillows?

Hinges, how it was mounted / secured, round tube frame

weight was also quite a bit more than projected

I was order #14 before they had a finished prototype and backed out before my build started. Considering a v2 though

We're loving our V2 GFC Camper so far. It's provided quite a few additional upgrades over the V1 including a massive weight reduction, and many other small notable improvements.

Here are a few recent shots on the Oregon Coast. Stoked with how this camper is working out so far.

That's awful! Ours was somewhere around the first 10 V2s and we drove out to get it too.

Everything is still marvelous with it but the service we got was less than we expected from all the videos we'd seen of people getting them installed, not that it wasn't satisfactory.
They were friendly enough but we didn't get the tour or anything (but then we aren't big YouTube creators either) and the kid we mostly dealt with was slightly annoying. Slightly.

Okay, so I'm probably just still upset about his assumption that the camper was for my husband and the fact that after he realized that, he still REALLY didn't want to give me a free t-shirt too or even switch out the size of the one he gave my husband! I mean, seriously, after what we paid for it, waiting 9 months for it to be ready and driving all the way up there to get it I think two t-shirts shouldn't have been that big a deal!

The camper itself though, we've been using it for a couple of years (or thereabouts) without any issues. What I would like is more interchangeable bolt holes though. I called and asked if I could add a few more holes on the bars, and if so, where it would be safe to add them and they just told me yes, but it would void the warranty. Not helpful. Oh well, we have to put a hole in the back wall anyway to run the solar so I suppose...

They seals do a great job.

We're in Arizona and it's generally our goal to be several miles down dirt roads from even the sound of another vehicle. Seriously, we want to see absolutely nobody else if at all possible.

On our last trip we were out for 8 days, for the first three days after we hit dirt we only saw two trucks, and they were running together. When we came home there was more road dust and dirt in the back seat than in the camper. There was dirt in the camper, but we had dragged that in on our feet and on equipment coming in and out over the course of a week, it hadn't come in while driving.

In comparison, my uncle's truck had a tonneau cover and after 4 hours on a dirt road the bed of his truck was absolutely full of Arizona dirt.

Now bringing dirt in as you climb in and out, that's a different story!

Not pillows. Right now I have a thin-ish queen-size quilt (that we sleep on top of) a Kelty Biggie blanket, a OneTigris 2-Person Down blanket and a queen-size wool blanket stored up there and it closes fine.

We tried keeping our giant 2-person sleeping back up there but because it didn't compress enough we couldn't do it.
Fortunately we found that blankets make for a more comfortable night and if you use ones that are either thin (like wool) or compress really well, then it works out.

Might need to retract that statement. GFC says you can store 2 sleeping bags, a pillow and a nalgene.. but who knows

    They fib!
Unless you're going with an inflatable pillow or possibly camping pillow (oh, the horror), any pillow you're going to want to sleep on is not fitting up there. 2 sleeping bags? That MIGHT be possible if they compress really well. I've tried three different 2-person sleeping bags and none of them have worked. Besides, like I said, blankets are just so much nicer to sleep in than a bag, especially if there are two of you (and a chihuahua).

Hmmm, I bet I could store the chihuahua up there...
