How's everybody doing on this beautiful morning (current location is Eastern,VA)

alright now here's the skinny of it all, just got me my second Tacoma.

1st was 14 dble prerunner (lease) turned it in and got me (drum roll please) ......................

2001 LIMITED LUNAR MIST TRD DOUBLECAB 4X4 V6 TACOMA (without commas that is a lot to swallow, oh and 200k miles)

so even the high millage I still love this damn thing, I put e3 spark plugs in because they worked wonders on my 2000 Tundra, let me tell you they absolutely suck in the Tacoma. multiple hard starting issues with them in, so I switched to NGKs and they work great should have gone with OE's to start.

so my next act is an undercoating but I have to get all the red clay off that the previous Deer slayer ran through.

My first question, I have seen the post regarding the suspension swap from TRD Tundra to TRD Tacoma to help lift it. what about the back, everything I saw was for the front coils. I know its kind of outdated but the way I'm looking at it is that its cheap. has anyone done this swap and did you have any issues with it?

    plan for truck:
    1. undercoat
    2. suspension
    3. rock auto steel wheels and Toyo ATII tires (maybe 33's if the suspension will work)
    4. engine rebuild planning (possibly port and polish heads and add TRD headers)

thanks guys and gals, if anyone has suggestions please enlighten me.

I would just seek out a lift kit designed for a Tacoma. I wouldn't waste time trying to do a Tundra suspension swap.

If you are one of those people who think OEM is like the only thing you can do to your truck then look into a TRD Pro suspension (but its only 2").

will the TRD PRO suspension fit an 01???? and the main reason I'm wanting to do it is cost, if they are compatible then going to a junk yard and finding the suspension is like 80% cheaper.

My personal preference is the Old man emu lift. Handles so well and not too expensive.
You can do 1st gen Tundra trd coils matched with tundra bilstiens. They work, but feel really squishy imo.
You can fit 33s on either lift too.

    No. Different generation trucks.

Get yourself some bilstein 5100s or the OME shocks. I had the 5100s on my 04 for like 6 years, and just put them my my friends 03 when I went to Kings.

It’s kind of a toss up as to bilsteins or the OMEs, the billys are adjustable, so you can use stock springs and level it out if necessary. If you are getting new springs (old ones are shot), then maybe a set of OME shocks and the proper lift springs would be a better option.

There aren’t a lot of direct comparisons between them, as most guys end up with one or the other, not both. So do you like silver shocks or yellow ones? lol

Dont do that. Youll find suspension components that are corroded and likely way past their lifespan, will be a PITA to install, and likely will screw other things up in your truck because they dont fit right.

A quality kit like an OME setup with upper control arms, new struts, coils, new rear shocks and a Dakar leaf pack will run $1,700 with shipping. Not a bad deal at all for a whole new suspension.

Your life rests in your suspension. Don't cheap out. your better off just leaving it stock.

Solid advise, I don't think on suspension update yet, 1st thing is 1st , rust removal and protection inside out frame and I have to send monthly payments for another 36 months, so If it runs ok, then not more to invest.

Congratulations Gordo, you just got the nicest configuration on DC 1st, gen.
