@GHOST SHIP you happen to have any pictures of trim fenders? What do you use for fender liners? Would like to make it stock as possible. Thanks

I don’t have any pictures. Making things look stock is my jam, but I’ll be honest: we can get as fancy as you want but things get pricey for custom work real fast. If you’re talking a quick fender trim, then it’s just cutting and smoothing the fender and flare and adding edge trim but you loose the fender liner mounting points that way.
If you want liners then my preferred way of doing it would be to metal work the fenders and roll a new lip at the cut edge to retain rigidity, I’d also make or form tabs to bolt the new liners in place. That would mean I’d have to make my own liners out of ABS and I’d be flattening the pinch weld (to a much greater extent than your standard CMC) and smoothing the wheel tub. That level of custom work means you’re dropping the truck off for a couple days and the finished product would probably look like nothing has been done but that’s kind of the point.

I’ve been known to put a lot of hours into something to make it look like I didn’t do anything but I don’t charge myself for that work. Those hours translate to labor charges that a lot of people aren’t willing to pay.

    Just being honest.

awesome. I’m super OCD with my truck ( I’m sure we all are) so I’ll be down for all that. Let’s meet one day and we can talk about it some more (whenever you’re available)

thank you for the detailed reply back.

This is what you want bro
    https://trailtoys.net/products/a-better-edge-trim

edit: I’m an idiot I read fender trim not fender liner. But that trim is still sweet. Not sure what I’m going to use for liners yet.

Haha funny how we were just talking about this at your place. Tackling the cut Saturday.

I’m leaving tabs. Your description may have me back at your shop. Damn you

On today’s episode of “How he do that?”:

After the top plates have been drilled, I sand them with 60 grit. Even if that sounds aggressive it’s enough to give the metal some tooth for applying paint later. Then I can dimple the holes in the plates and weld the plates to their respective sliders.

this is followed by fully sanding the entire slider and prepping for paint by wiping them down twice with a heavy duty degreaser followed by a final wipe of acetone before paint.

Install day today for @patdeezy ’s sliders. Here’s what the finished product looks like. For anyone wondering, in the notes I posted earlier I mentioned that these were going to be 6” wide at the front and 7.5” at the kickout and angled 15 degrees. They’re on the conservative side but proportionally perfect IMO for a light off road truck that sees 80/20 time on/off road. Someone that goes HAM in the rocks might want more/different protection which is why I go over the design process at the beginning of the build.

Big ups to Sergio. Over the weekend i busted a nut and my bypass shock did too while on the road.

He bailed me out with the right hardware and got under the rear, the truck's not mine, and wrestled with the bolt, replaced it with a new one, and got it back together.

I was so happy to be back on the road, i was about to rock his world, but then remembered that i already busted a nut. Me, not the truck.
