It’s mine. I’m finally building something for myself. Haha.
I haven’t decided if I’m going HC or standard. My plan has always been to build this bumper to match my Pelfrey hybrid from bumper, which is something I haven’t seen yet so it’ll have a plated center section and tube “wings” either way. For now I’ve completed assembly of the center section and I’m doing all the finish work above to give myself time to think about think about how I’ll build the rest. I know I don’t “need” a HC bumper but they look so awesome and give me that street cred for insta likes. My main concern is how the open tube section will look as a HC bumper. I don’t know if the skeletonized wings will look right with the frame and shackles and yet to be added support tube for said wings all visible.

I am. It’ll be hidden behind the license plate but because I’m building this out to be low profile against the body there won’t be as much room as I’d like to reinforce the hitch they way I’d prefer for towing without running into the spare tire under the truck. The good news is I don’t tow, but that doesn’t mean I don’t want the option available. It’ll still be strong enough For my hitch mounted spare tire carrier and whatever else I want to plug in there, but I’m not going to tow the yacht to the marina with it.

There was a bumper I saw a while back that I really liked, It was plate behind the license plate and about 5" on each side of it, then crossing tube out to the sides, then plate wings for the high clearance. Basically looked like you could see through like an xray of a plate bumper. Trying to find it on google images for you lol.

Something like this but essentially the inverse. But this one looks sick as well! It's Meso's and it's a CBI high clearance with the plate chopped I believe. [IMG]

Something like this would be cool and go with the hybrid theme as well [IMG]

    or this [IMG]

I know Jason made this one: [IMG]

Jason is @glorifiedwelder As far as I know he’s made a couple but it’s not something he offers regularly. Mostly because a lot of people ask about them but there’s very little follow through.
I get that same sort of attention on a few items.

CMC and trimming done in record time, even with me talking your ear off.

See you soon for the sliders, and let me know if/when you come up with a "comparable" lo pro front bumper like SSO :bikewheelie2:

Interesting bit of info for anyone wondering. Anodizing can be removed from aluminum several ways- chemical stripping, mechanical stripping (sanding), or thermal stripping. Some of you might know that I try to save money whenever I can so I got new passenger pegs for my scooter that were in a scratch and dent sale but I wasn’t crazy about the color.
    A686888B-6C78-432D-8A3C-05F8E91B2172.jpg

Easy fix, I removed the tread lugs and cleaned off the peg of any oils or manufacturing residue. Then I spent a few minutes with a MAP torch and heated the peg evenly to remove the anodizing. I stopped when the pegs reached a copper-bronze color because I was going for a bronze anyway and figured I’d have a good base for the new coating.

    55FEED6E-0386-4C9F-AFD9-277731138FF8.jpg

If I had kept heating the part, they would eventually turn back to raw aluminum. You just have to make sure to heat it evenly to prevent warping and burning the coating off outright.
You can see the comparison of the original blue and the heat-treated peg above. The picture makes them look almost purple but to the naked eye they were more of an FDE or coyote color. You also have to be careful and patient because aluminum doesn’t react to heat the same way as steel. There’s no blue color change to tell you a part is hot so just leave everything alone until you know it’s cool enough to handle.

And here’s the finished product all mounted with the fresh bronze coating and tread studs back on. FYI, the forward peg were originally red but received the same process to prep them for the bronze.
