More chingaderas today. My neighbor is in a horror punk band (Think: The Misfits) and asked if I could wire some lights for him… inside his guitar. Fuck yeah brochacho.

They’re controlled via a wireless remote and the small external battery pack will mount to his guitar strap. Here’s the power port for the battery box. Matches the 1/4” jack for the audio cable, but is a smaller size so I was able to I keep everything small and in line with the aesthetics of the guitar.

    Should look killer on stage.

The peppermint trick seems to work to keep rats at bay, but needs to be reapplied periodically as it fades away. Basically anything that would affect their heightened ability to smell would work: capsicum, peppermint, garlic, etc. I’d rather have my truck smelling like peppermint than garlic and chili though.

I ran the serial number out of curiosity. It’s from 1991 so not super old, but has been taken care of for that age. He has several high end guitars but that one does tour duty.
When he first approached me for the project I had to check in multiple times: “you sure you’re ok with me drilling a hole in your guitar?” He said he trusted my work and gave me complete freedom to do what was necessary.

Haha. I was in Springfield, MA but also bounced around Boston, Salem and dipped into CT for an afternoon. Had family with me, otherwise I would’ve explored a bit further out and hit you up for a cheese steak!

same truck has the Air Lift bags in the rear for towing and I also installed the air lift compressor kit under the hood.

It’s actually not that bad. I prefer this style to the Tacoma in terms of difficulty. The key to reinstalling sway bars is to have both sides either on the ground or equally drooped. That way you aren’t fighting the sway bar and trying to twist it into place. Because I’m working one corner at a time on a sloped driveway with a floor jack and jack stands, I usually install that last after everything is on and both tires are back on the ground. I rarely jack both wheels off the ground at the same time.

In other news: I’ve been trying to order parts for my tube notcher for some time now. I have had the Eastwood pro tube notcher for a few years now and a bunch of sliders and bed racks have been built with it. So much so that the needle bearings started to wear out and I’ve had some wobble in the guide. This makes the holes slightly less accurate and you have to keep vertical or later tension on the drill to keep it cutting a decent hole. After some back and forth with Eastwood about ordering replacements parts, they’re sending me a new notcher! I totally didn’t expect that and they’ve been great to deal with. I’ve been buying stuff from Eastwood for over 20 years and never had an issue but this really sealed the deal for their customer service. Just wanted to pass the word along for other fabricators out there.

Fuck yeah that's awesome to hear!

The only issue with us (fabricators-starting out) is real-estate in the garage :bananadead:

The hole saw is vise mounted so it takes up very little room for what it adds. You’ve seen my place. Everything is on wheels and I usually have to move things out of the way to get to anything I need. That has more to do with my skill set being spread out so much that it requires a different set of tools for each task. I’ve already outgrown my latest toolbox but can’t justify buying another one.

    Oh I definitely remember!

You just yank something out and get to work.

Me on the otherhand, I'm not as brave anymore as I prefer to do as much as I can inside the garage.

Homeowner hack today. Got one of these pump sprayers for random stuff around the house and the garden.
    7C7FCB82-254E-4C35-B7F1-325D512E5DFD.jpg

I got tired of pumping it like a chump so I drilled a hole and added a schrader valve. Now I can add pressure with my compressor and be good to go. The hand pump still works if I’m not near an air line and it also acts as a pressure relief when the work is done and you’re going to store it.

    DFBBA013-BF0E-45F9-9662-F0AD370C6B85.jpg

The only caveat is that you can’t add to much pressure for the plastic housing. You’re also relying on the seals in the pump and nozzle which are just rubber o rings in a plastic seat so you can’t overfill it. I had this up to 30 psi and didn’t fear blowing out the container or seals. I’m sure a larger vessel would work better and allow for more pressure and a sustained working time before you have to add more air.
