Custom Chingaderas on @OrangeCrash ’s 2nd gen. I like when manufacturers say “these Parts will not fit your application”.

Just because I have nowhere else to share this. I really enjoy when a company puts in the effort for a marketing campaign. I’m also a fan of well made boots. I have 3 pairs of Red Wing boots, a pair of Whites, and a pair of DrMartens that were resoled by Brian the Boootmaker at RoleClub here in LA. That’s just some context to why I found this so amusing:

This is fantastic hahaha. I'm a Red Wing booter for life, this is so over the top, and I'm here for it.

I need to get my reds resoled. Gonna look into Brian. Interested in the Docs also. Those aren’t GYW out of the box right?

All I can think of when I saw those was those goofy ass MSCHF boots that were popular for a minute a few weeks ago (Image from google, definitely not me). Cool crossover on the Mario pair though, I enjoying watching them work. The last couple pairs of boots I've bought for work have gotten increasingly more expensive and are lasting increasingly longer. My current pair aren't particularly fancy and are pretty no-name, but have broken in SO nicely.

If you take your boots back to your RedWing, they send them back to their cobblers in Minnesota so you get OEM parts with factory skilled install. They charge about $100 for a basic resole but you can also get custom stuff done with their online order form:

    https://www.redwingshoes.com/contact-us/repairs.html

I found out about Brian through his YouTube channel. He’s definitely a craftsman and can even make you a custom bespoke pair of his own designed boots if you have the coin. I may get a pair of his engineer boots someday. Real down to earth guy too when you meet him. His shop is located closer to South Central LA, but worth the trip if you’re serious about it.

The Dr Martens I had resoled weren’t your standard docs. They were a cap toe design that I haven’t seen since I bought them over 10 years ago. I’ll post a pic in a bit.

All i see with those boots is AstroBoy. Haha. I’m not a huge anime fan, but I know the basics for my era: voltron, astroboy, ultra man, etc…

If you like your redwings, you could look into the PNW brands that are definitely more expensive but worth every penny like Nicks or Whites. The Whites that I bought are your basic mock toe design but after wearing these and Red Wing, I’d take the Whites. The leather is thicker but softer so the break in period is shorter. They also have a 360 Goodyear welt that helps make them more water resistant. They include a synthetic insole that provides extra cushioning over the leather footbed. Plus, and kind of an aesthetic choice for me but Red Wing doesn’t offer a black moc toe in an 8” height.

I missed the question here. Docs are definitely not GYW. The “bouncing soles” are glued on and the famous yellow stitching is aesthetic and not functional to the construction of the boot. I remember being a punk rock kid in jr high and high school wearing docs and swearing by them. Only now that I’m more informed on how boots are made, am I realizing exactly how cheap they were, never mind the current boots they sell have taken a dive quality-wise. When I made the decision to have mine resoled I knew the upper was still good leather and opted for a true GYW from Brian with a leather midsole and his black cork soles.

I picked up my reds on eBay so I wonder if I could still do that. Love the boots put in tons of miles while I was doing my surveying job back in college. I would want to get a different sole on them. Right now it’s the white wedge and even though we don’t get much snow, they are my winter boots and some extra traction would be nice. Noticed the sole video on Brian’s site. Gonna give it a watch when I get a minute.

The Docs are sweet! My fiancé has a pair and I love seeing them being improved like having a GYW added. Let’s be honest, she’s not gonna be wearing out her soles on her pair, but it’s nice to see that there is a guy local that is willing to resolve them and do quality work.

Right now I also need to find a decent deal on some Danner military boots cause my Nike SFBs are about to kick the bucket.

The redwings shouldn’t be an issue to send back to them as long as they’re not fake. The online form has the option to swap soles as well. I should note that right now they’re quoting 3 months turn around time for a resole, which honestly is way too long for a basic resole especially with a christy sole that just gets glued on and shaped. I dropped off a pair on January 2nd and still don’t have them back- and they have no way of tracking their progress which is kind of annoying so I just wait for the call when they’re ready. Brian could do it but there are also plenty of talented cobblers out there that can do it for you.

Check out LAPolicegear.com for tactical boots. Sometimes they have deep discounts on closouts. I picked up a pair of Cochran jump boots from them a while back and occasionally find things I need for work on sale. They have a brick and mortar store in the Palmdale/Lancaster area but the showroom is mostly backpacks and knives and assorted EDC stuff with a small section for boots and clothes.

That’s insane. Though I love to support redwing I have no problem supporting local either.

I’ll give that site a visit too. See if they have anything I like.

Priority #1 right now is keeping an eye out for archive to throw up a little sale on some shock towers to get slapped onto the truck. My 5100s are bottoming out with my new hangers/shackles. Looking forward to the day I can give you the call for the install :spending:

I’m surprised more people don’t do this. I’ve offered it to a few people while installing their hangers and even with my vast library of spray paint colors, not many takers.

    Looks pretty dope though.
