So I was comparing prices on replacing my now damaged fender and noticed that if I buy it new in the correct color (from Amazon at least) it's $429 with shipping but a set of glassworks, all 4, are $748.. Sure they may not be color matched but that may not be an issue for me...

So my question is about durability and purpose. I know a lot of you pre-runner and long travel guys run them but it seems like those that are are more in desert and sandy locations. I wheel my truck in the mountains here in Va and am wondering if they'd hold up to the abuse of branches and slightly rubbing on trees...

I not sure if I wanna get these but considering it's only $300 more to replace ALL the fenders I figured I should ask...

I'd say stay with standards cheaper to replace than glass fenders

The way I see it, unless you have the wider track like an LT kit would have, glass would just look awkward because your wheels and tires would sit like 3 inches back under the fenders...

I'm not long travel and my spacers tuck the wheels perfectly with my 3" glassworks.

    I'm lost by your math.

    1 new OE fender - $429.00
    1 SET of Glassworks fenders(4 Fenders) - $748.00 divide by 4 = 187.00 for 1.

So no Glassworks will be the cheaper of the two to replace down the road.

Granted the OE will come paint matched but it doesn't cost that much to paint a fender.

Yes it will be more up front now, but down the road you will spend less to repair\replace the glassworks.

And you will look funny running glassworks with stock suspension or no spacers.

How big of a spacer do you run?

They are much more tough than factory. I mash mine through the ding weeds all the time. I did manage to crack a rear fender sliding into a tree, but it was easy to fix. I just took it off, sanded the crack, poured resin on it and slapped a couple layers of fiberglass on it. Good as new. If it was the stock bedside I would have had to replace the whole thing...They come with a layer of gel coat on them, same as they put on boats.

So basically what I'm hearing is that their easy to fix (I can do fiberglass work, learned how to doing my satoshi mod) and also more durable than stock.. Both great! The only thing is, SoCal, what are you running for spacers? These are something I've been thinking about adding anyway so if they make the truck look right with glass then I'll go ahead with em..

Also, I know they come white, but is that just a primer or could I just clear coat that? I wasting that the blue/white two tone might not look too bad instead of havin to pay for paint as well...

They come gel coated, like a boat. It's a really thick clear coat. You don't need to finish them at all if you don't want to, but it would look goofy having white fenders. Lots of dudes dgaf and do it anyway.
