I chose to put this in the Glock Mega Thread, because I'm a Glock fan, and wanted the responses I get to be from fellow Glock fans since that is what I own. Now....here we go....I may regret this. I have my LTC, so for EDC, leaving comfort out of it, should I go for caliber or capacity? I have my theories on it, but kind of wanting some other opinions, maybe LEO's or military opinions. Those that carry regularly. The 4 I will be choosing from will be a Glock 19, 23, 32 and 30s. Also, I have several options on holsters, IWB, OWB, etc. Thanks guys. Don't beat me up too bad on this

Also, would love to get @Ostrichsak opinion if you are available. I have read several of your posts and you seem well versed in firearms and tactics. Thanks

I guess I should be more specific, for example, Glock 19 with 15+1 in 9mm, or 30s (for comparison) @ 10+1 in .45 ACP. In a self defense scenario, would you choose caliber or capacity? Meaning better stopping power, or more rounds on target? With the 9mm, more rounds on target, probably with better accuracy, or the .45, better stopping power, but more recoil and more difficult "back on target". All this may just be a matter of preference to each individual, just thought I would ask. Because sometimes I feel lacking a bit if I leave the .45 ACP in the safe. Not that the 9mm is not a very very capable round, just sometimes I feel if confronted with a self defense incident, the less I have to discharge the better. Thank you for you reply @jeff b I appreciate it. I guess it comes down to multiple factors

A pistol is NEVER a primary weapon. That being said, dont sweat how many rounds you have. Even one well placed shot, will deter a suspect or give him a chance to do the room tempreature challenge. Then get to your primary(most deadly encounters are over in mere seconds, so this is only a frame of mind in case things are prolonged) to finish the job.

What are you guys using for cleaning solvent? I've tried a couple and it doesn't even touch the copper fouling, even the ones that turn blue never stop turning blue I can run 30 patches thrue and I'll still get blue? I'm using a bronze brush and this is on my 23.

If it's my glock, I just use some Hornady One Shot. Works really well, and leaves just a little bit of oil behind to help lubricate

Well not a leo or military but I do carry a G30s every day for more than a year and I absolutely love it and combined with a Galco king tuck IWB there's no better combo for me anyway. I live in CT so I have the 10rd mag max law so the 30s for me was optimal. I wanted 45acp and the double stack 10rd mag fit my hand like a glove.

    FOX2011PM,

I am a LEO of almost 14 years, responsible for our armory and one of the leading firearm instructors for my agency. You ask which glock is better to carry (capacity vs caliber). I'll always tell you to carry the one that you are more comfortable with, accurate with and faster delivering ACCURATE follow up shots. Also which one are you more likely to train/practice with. 9mm is a lot more cost effective to train with than a .45. If you choose the .45 but never practice shooting it because of the cost then the 9mm would be better.

People argue this issue all of the time. God forbid your in a self defense situation you should be training to STOP your threat and not shoot enough to just kill the threat. IF it takes more than 1 round to STOP the threat then you should be training for those scenarios. You should also train yourself for body armor drills & multiple threats. Now if you feel that those critera are better met FOR YOU with a .45 then carry the G30. If you feel those critera are better met with a 9mm then carry the G19.

Either way, make sure you are carrying quality expanding ammo (if your state laws allow). Speer Gold Dots, Federal HST & Hornaday Critical Duty top most charts. Also learn the ballistics of each round/weight of bullet and how it performs through whatever specific barrier your looking for it to penetrate (heavy clothing, wall board, etc).

So the long & short of it is the answer to your question will differ for everyone. If you answer the above questions for you then you will come to the best conclusion for You. Bottom line is your already headed down the right path just by asking the question. Good luck!

I use Shooters Choice solvent, but I've found the key is using an oversize bore brush. For a 9mm, the Otis #38 9.3mm brush is better than the standard #35 9mm bore brush.

Your welcome, although a little lengthy, I hopes it helps answers some of your questions about which glock to carry.

    yes, have both

the 27 pretty much stays in the safe now, but the only real reason I have it was because it functioned as a nice backup to my duty weapon when I was a cop
