i'd go with the 23 just because it's a .40 cal wich has better balistics than the 9mm.

I did it again. Got tired of paying truck payments and gas and traded in for a 2015 Honda Accord Sport since I enjoyed my 2013 Sport so much.
    .45GAP Glocks are ok, IMO.
The models are 37, 38, 39. Full size, compact, subcompact.
What the GAP does is put a .45 cartridge in a G17/29/26 sized frame. Before the GAP was introduced the .45/10mm models (G20, G21, G29, G30) had a common problem of having a too large of a grip for lots of shooters.

Glock has since come out with a G21SF and G30SF, or short frame. These have a grip reduction of about 1/8" off the backstrap. I'm not sure if there are G20SF/G29SF models out yet. These are still larger than the G17/29/26 sized pistols though.

from these results, the .357sig looks like it packs a punch close to that of the .45. (judging by the die patterns) Also, depending on the reliability of these results, the penetration doesn't seem to be much further than most other calibers either. I was always worried about over penetration with my .357 sig.

I wish neither was an option, I'm not a Glock fan. Have you considered an HK?

are you trying to say that the 9mm is a better round than the .40?

yea its a faster traveling round and better penetration, but doesnt have the stopping power that a .40 has, its all about fluid shockwave IMO, which the .40 has over the 9mm..

if i shot someone, i would rather the bullet stay inside them rather than peirce through...(more damage)

I'm not saying 9mm is better. I'm saying that among pistol calibers, they all suck. I would rather have extra ammuntion than a larger bullet, although it's almost a moot point with Glocks as the G19 holds 15+1 and the G23 holds 13+1.

People have taken .45 to the chest and survived and taken 9mm to the chest and died at the scene.

And IIRC hydrostatic shock was dispelled as a myth a while ago, as well as the term "stopping power".

im still a strong beleiver in .40, and for a difference in 2 rounds? i like to think of myself as pretty damn good shooter than to not need an extra 2 rounds, i dont think im ever gonna take on 5+ guys at 1 time, if i ever find myself to in a shootout, most rounds fired will probably be around 6...

and im sure that 9mm had different placement than the .45, so to say that the 9mm is a deadlier round is false...

and maybe you should re-read the IIRC...

    "The scientific literature contains other
    findings regarding injury mechanisms of
ballistic pressure waves. Ming et al.
report that ballistic pressure waves can
    break bones.
    [35] Tikka et al. reports
    abdominal pressure changes produced
in pigs hit in one thigh.
    [36] Akimov et al.
report on injuries to the nerve trunk from

    gunshot wounds to the extremities."

ever shot a a water bottle? shoot it with a .22, small entry hole, medium size exit hole, shoot it with a .40...small entry hole, very large exit hole...

cost/availability of ammo should weigh on your decision

if you are gonna shoot more practice rounds of 9 vs 40, then get the 9. shot placement matters, practice time matters. dont get caught up on ballistics to much. put enough holes in somebody and they die.

For me, the 9mm is more controllable. I can shoot it faster and more accurate than I can the .40cal. I don't have bear paws and the 9mm works better for me.

I am a small guy at 5'5" and 140 pounds and I have carried a G19 concealed. I carried it every day for about 3 years. I have also carried a G26 and I could not really tell the difference in concealing. I could tell a lot of difference in shootability.

There are so many of these guns out there that you should have no problem finding a few samples to shoot for yourself.

Try before you buy. Shoot the largest caliber in the smallest gun you can shoot fast and accurately. Remember that you will carry more than you shoot, but that you want to atleast not mind shooting it so you are willing to practice often.

Ok,thank's everyone, hear is the thing the reason i am leaning to the 23 is that i got 3 xd's in 40,so i all ready got alot of 40 setting around the house :) if i go with the 9mm i must stock up 9mm ammo :(

So why even ask? You want us to talk you into spending your money? You have 3 .40cal guns and you are leaning towards another? Go get the 23.

It will be much cheaper to shoot the 9mm. With the right 9mm ammo you will have basically the same terminal ballistics as the .40. That being said, I have a 22, and 27, duty/off duty. I also have a G17. The Gen 4 19 and 23 are about to be released soon so don't count those out.

I did shoot some +p+ rounds out of my 17, which seemed to have as much snap and maybe even more than the 22. you can't go wrong either way, but if you plan to shoot a lot go with the 9mm as the ammo is cheaper.
