The latch on my 2006 glove box stopped engaging. I tried disassembling it to figure out what the problem was, and the mechanism basically fell apart. Went to Toyota to find out that a new glove box is $350! Went on eBay and got a used one for $95 including shipping. Installed it, and the latch didn't engage!! Contacted the seller and he said they tested it in the truck before they shipped it and it worked, but he would arrange a return. I happened to dig around a little more on YouTube and found a post regarding a 2013 Tacoma, that said you could calibrate the latch. You use a small screwdriver to open the latch as far as it will go, then engage the handle on the front of the glove box. Damn if it didn't work! So, the latch must have come out of "calibration" during shipping.
The not so funny thing is that I probably could have done this to my original glove box before I tore it apart! The little tab on the bottom center of the box was broken off, but I never did knew what it did, in the box worked fine until it stopped latching!
Oh well, glad I didn't go for a new $350 box!!

Lots of things can cause a glove box to go out of alignment. Including you the owner, heavy stuff inside of it, removal, removal for motor work, removal for ECU access.

You can get the latch separately.

You left out front end collision with an 18-wheeler! I shared a solution, and you came up with five different problems. Thanks for sharing!
