Finally got my truck about a week ago, (ordered October 17th) and already getting the itch to tinker. Only minor stuff so far, hardwired dash cam, etc. Oh, my first Tacoma/truck by the way. But anyways back on topic.

The glove box lock. I am the type of person that likes to lock stuff in my glove box pretty regularly, so I was pretty happy when I saw that my new truck's was also lockable. I wasn't too happy when I realized I had to remove that p.o.s. mini key from the fob to lock/unlock it. Not only is it not easy to remove the fob key, but it's hard to use because it's so tiny (no actual handle), plus it really feels like a flimsy piece of shit key (very thin metal and already looks bent). So there's goes any practicality. Good thinking Toyota.

Now the tailgate key is a nice strong traditional car lock key. I was really hoping it would also be the key for the glove box, but no, that would have made too much sense. Now through some research I have learned that the MT trucks come with only one key. Probably a nice thick laser cut key. That works on everything! (Any MT guys want to confirm/post a picture of their key to confirm?)

So here's where I'm left. I figure I have only two options:
    1) Find a way to have a "real" key made for the truck. That I'll just use for the glove box.
    2) Find a MT truck glove box lock and re-key it to match my tailgate key.

I kind of like #2 the best because I'd rather have two sets of keys than three. So what's everyone's thoughts/previous experience? Thanks (Sorry for the long post)

And here I'm wishing they keyed the tailgate to match the fob key so I don't have to keep up with the giant key.

Interesting thought on the key in the fob. I surf 4-5 days a week and put that key in my wetsuit every time I go out. Key seems strong and easy enough to take out...

That's what I was thinking! Reading OP's post I'm thinking... I don't have this problem where is he going with this??

What about a wireless key fob actuator thing??? Like what guys are installing on their tailgates to lock unlock with the fob? Can anyone figure this out?

    I'm tired

I would be all over that if it was legal to carry a handgun in Canada without special permits or certain job titles.... Othereise... Sadly no use for this product aside from maybe leaving my passport in it... Which I still prefer to not do. Thats a pretty genius product tho! Thanks for the link, maybe I'll just have to find an excuse to buy this... One my wife cannot deny me on :D :fingerscrossed:
