I have a nice new 2019 Tacoma that my wife scrape the hell out of the glove box with a marble saddle. I bought a like new glove box and was going to swap the whole thing out but then i realized the lock is not going to work.

Is it possible to remove the skin or is there some other way to get to the lock? I cant figure out how to remove door, inside or outside skin

What in this green earth is a marble saddle? Wouldn't that be super uncomfortable to ride a horse with?

My wife bairly made it out alive. Truck had 200 miles on it. This marble saddle was for a shower door, it was a 5" by just long enough to not fit in the bed so the idiot guy at store and wife got together and decided to put in diagnonally from back door toward glove box.

Now that that is covered, anyone ever sepeate the door skin from the door? I think either inside or outside snaps off to get to the lock but I dont want to break it.

I would take off the glove box door and see if there are any plugs where screws are hidden. If not, then the outer skin is probably molded on to the harder plastic of the door itself.

According to the parts diagram there is a screw holding lock in from the back.. But there is no way that I can see to get to the back of the lock. I did try to pry open door skin from back of door on the existing glovebox but I started marking up the door before I got very far. not a big deal for door that is trash but doenst help me with getting the new lock and skin off of the used glovebox

Do people actually lock their glove box? I never have in any vehicle...just swap out entire unit and forgo locking the thing.

For anyone that's looking to do this in the future. I pried the door skin off the old door with a plastic pry bar. I'm wondering that if you order a glove box from the factory that the skin comes separate because it doesn't look like it's something that after you pry off you expected to be able to go back neatly.

I swapped the glove box, tasks where.
    1) pull off the right side trim that's is in the door jamb.
    2) Remove 3 airbag screws
    3) stick a plastic pry bar under the top of the airbag assembly to pop the three clips. You can see the right clip to get an idea how it works.
    4) remove 5 glove box screws and pull the glove box out. there are a few of those red clips holding it in

Install the glove box cover as-is. Get the door and ignition locks on your truck keyed to be the same as the glove box. Hide keys from wife. Problem solved.
