Must find this for my wife. The last couple cream of mushrooms we got were from Aldi but they don't stick around very long before they disappear.

they have cream of mushroom and a tomato soup too but i've only ever tried the cream of chicken. little salty for my tastes but i've gotten used to it. and there's 3 or 4 recipes that i love to make that need cream of chicken so this was a godsend

Made a trip to Costco today and looked for some of the GF pasta that was posted a while back. Nothing. Was bummed but didn’t expect to find it based on the map that was shown. Oh well. Perhaps some day! I did see some GF pasta at Sprouts the other day, so glad to know that is there.

Has anyone ever used the Schaar GF pastry dough? I can’t find it here at home but would love to get my hands on it for Beef Wellington and a few other dishes. Just curious as to what you all think of it if you have used it.

I was not prepared for all of this, but now I’m super invested. Much excite. Many hooray. Yes!

It’s wildly helpful. We are grateful for it!

Maybe they were sold out? Keep at it, we almost missed it the first time.

As for puff pastry… I have yet to find one I like, but I haven’t tried the Schär stuff. There’s a package in my freezer staring at me, so maybe soon? I’m nervous from all of the letdown.

If you can give me a few weeks, I’ll pony up for you. I really just needed a reason

    @Beef Nachos

If you are ever up for making your own puff pastry, let me know. I have a recipe that I have made that is really good. It’s not hard but it would be nice to find a pre-made.

    Thanks again for the reply!

I'm pretty new to the gluten-free lifestyle. My daughter has been prescribed a gluten-free/dairy-free program by her doctor and I've been doing it to support her!

I find Whole Foods to be convenient for someone lime myself who is new to all this. They, despite the high-ish prices, do a VERY good job labeling all things for various dietary restrictions. Also, they have the best gluten-free beer selection(for me) I've been able to find! Pro-tip:. Their 365 brand is private-label and more affordable. Let us know what you think when you shop there!

What kind of beer are you into? Wife and I have done a little bit of gluten free beer exploration.

its hard at first but gets easier for sure once you learn the ropes. used to take me all day to shop for groceries because i had to read the fine print on every label. packaging has gotten a lot better and GF stuff is easier to spot. some are still tricky - and watch out for the random "organic" thing on the shelf in the middle of the GF section because some lazy stocker doesn't understand the difference between the two.
have you used the find me gluten free app for restaurants and stuff? handy to have.
and if you're struggling for easy recipes to try i suggest checking out the betty crocker site. they have a huge recipe section and a special GF section. most of the ingredients are pretty basic things that you can find just about anywhere.

    @Unresolved Taco Issues

I’ve also had a brand I’ve picked up from Total Wine that is pretty good. I don’t recall the name, but it comes in bottles and they have amber, dubbel, tripel, and one other type. They are 16 or 20oz bottles if I remember.

EDIT - The Brand is called Green’s. Another brand is Omission, but I’ve only had 1-2 of theirs, so can’t recall how I liked it.

And Gluten Free on a Shoe String is another site that has amazing recipes and such.

I'm not picky. I like most everything I've tried in the gluten-free realm thus far. WF has a pilsner from Lakeshore Brewing that's ok. I have a lager in my fridge right now. It's called Daura Damm, I think? I've been also trying some of the hard ciders, but not really a cider-person so...

Thanks for the info! I have the GF scanner app to scan barcodes at the store. It helps, but most of the time the item in question can't be found. I've been finding restaurants local that offer gluten-free menu options and if they're prepared safely. Also, this thread has been a valuable resource for ideas. Thanks again to all of you!

Thanks! A coworker recommended Total Wine also. I'll check out that Gluten Free on a Shoe String site as well!

Assuming you like it, obviously, as a general rule most Thai dishes are gluten free.

And if you have someone in your house that also doesn't eat meat, they have plenty of vegetarian options, too.

That combo of vegetarian and GF is tough sometimes.

I have a heavy west coast bias in my beers that are available, y'know, being on the west coast and all but Ghost fish brewing is probably my favorite strictly GF brewery. https://ghostfishbrewing.com/

and then Stone Delicious is a "gluted reduced" IPA that tastes exactly like a normal IPA. Testing shows lower levels of gluten than is required for gluten free, but since it once contained barley they can't legally say gluten free. My celiac wife has had zero issues with it. https://www.stonebrewing.com/beer/gluten-information#ageGatePassed

Walmart now carries progresso gluten free soups, I saw italian wedding, chicken noodle, and minestrone. Wife wanted to try the chicken noodle so I grabbed her a can. First time I'd seen them.

I found them last sumner. The wedding soup is just OK. And the noodles in the chicken are a little rubbery but otherwise it's fine. I have a couple cans in the pantry for emergencies when I'm sick and don't want to cook.

I've tried Stone Delicious and was impressed! Any recommendations on the Ghostfish beers? I've seen a few at WF, but didn't want to spend the extra $$ without knowing anything about them. Thanks!

I like their grapefruit IPA and it's been the easiest to find in my experience. I haven't disliked any of them, for what it's worth, out of the 4 or 5 kinds I've had. I think I have their wheat one in my fridge right now.

I don’t remember if I posted these a few weeks back or not, but my son and his girlfriend made these cowboy cookies after I made tacos al pastor for dinner. Oh gawsh are these good! :)

    Another Costco find.

Flavor-wise, my wife said she liked it but consistency-wise thought it was too thick.

For me, I didn't mind the stew-like consistency but I think there's a bit too much fennel in the sausage so it has a bit of a dill taste to it. But maybe that because I have a sinus thing brewing.

try my recipe for sausage soup. can't get enough of this - i make it about once a month and never had any go to waste. its super easy and super good. i usually cook and store the macaroni separate with the leftovers so it doesn't soak up all of the broth and turn to mush. or you could do it without the pasta all together

    italian sausage soup

    • 1 lb Italian ground pork sausage
    • 1 cup chopped onions
    • 3 cups chopped carrots
    • 1 tablespoon finely chopped garlic
    • 4 to 6 cups chicken broth
    • 1 can (19 oz) cannellini beans, drained, rinsed (or red kidney beans)
    • 1 can (28 oz) diced tomatoes, undrained
    • 2 teaspoons chopped fresh oregano
    • 2 teaspoons fennel seed
    • 1 bay leaf
    • 3/4 cup (3 oz) small ring pasta, such as ditalini or macaroni
    • 3 cups baby spinach, washed and coarsely chopped
    • 1 tablespoon olive oil
in a large pot brown the sausage. set aside to drain the grease
in same pot throw in the EVOO, garlic and onions. cook over medium to sweat the onions
    add the sausage back in
add the carrots, broth, beans, tomatoes and seasonings.
simmer until carrots are just about done.
pick out the bay leaf and add the pasta and spinach
might need to add a couple cups of water or more broth if the pasta soaks up too much
    simmer until pasta is done

i serve mine with a few parmesan crisps like WISPS or with some garlic bread.
makes about 6 good sized bowls.
