This after they got bailed out by the taxpayers in 09, should have let GM just burn. Plain to see they can't run a company which is why they needed the bailout to begin with.

I don’t like seeing the loss of jobs here and in Canada, plus the manufacturing sector decline, but the absolute worst vehicle I’ve ever had was a mid 90’s GM product that I bought new. GARBAGE!

Seems like they should convert those plants over to produce trucks and SUV's since cars no longer do well.

I feel like that's the problem with American auto makers is that they plain put out crap compared to the rest of the world market . Some people keep buying the same makes over and over and over. I know I did , I used to be a Ford guy untill I had major problems with owning a bunch of them . I eventually got fed up and gave Toyota a try mostly from word of mouth and it's the best move I've ever made. I'm in my 4th Toyota and 0 issues. I'll never go back from Toyota, it's not because I'm a fanboy or any other reason than I just want to fill her up with gas and go and not have issues constantly and Toyota compared to all most all makes out there fits the bill perfectly for me. Basically if a company puts out crap and it comes back to bite them it's there fault. They chose that road , they been in the vehicle business over a hundred years and that's the quality they choose to put out.

I've been reading several articles on this and am a bit surprised. I haven't seen confirmation of the death of the Chevy Cruze yet... I think they'll import them from Mexico where they build the hatchback or something being they'd still have the Sonic and Spark which should truly get the ax instead. I've also read that supposedly they are doing this as a bargaining technique for their upcoming UAW talks.. I think there is too much bad publicity for that to be a move in their labor discussions.

I've owned two GM vehicles (a Chevy truck and a Pontiac car) and just the problem that the Dex-Cool caused has kept me away along with I was against the bailout and find a lot of their new stuff to be junk. We looked at the Trax and Cruze last year for my wife when shopping for her. The Trax was just awfully designed I thought and the Cruze had that idiotic stop/start that couldn't be turned off along with my wife hated the feel of it.

If G.M. would make dependable vehicles that people actually want, and could actually AFFORD, they might do better... that's not to say that a 50K 4Runner isn't overpriced...or a 55K Tundra...

Agree, However I think the difference is consumers are willing to pay that price for a dependable vehicle. Toyota has the reputation of being dependable that's why consumers buy them.

You are right. When I was cross shopping Tacoma's and Colorado's the prices were always within $1500 of each other. One with legendary reliability and the other with who knows reliability. GM seems to be hit or miss, I know more Silverado owners that buy a new one time and time again but when it comes to there wifes purchase its NEVER a GM product.

The big three are terrible when it comes to adapting to market trend. In the 70’s gas crisis they were still making big ass cars.

I hate that Dex-Cool crap, Intake and Headgaskets always seem to go bad.

Agreed! My S10 had 104,000 miles on it and I was checking the fluids one January morning (a week before going back to college where I would commute at least 85 miles per day 5 days a week). Looked in the Antifreeze tank and it was bone dry (wasn't a few days ago). Called up my mechanic and what do you know needed new Intake and Headgaskets. Then it caused my heat not to work because of the sludge later on which was another repair.

Wife's G6 she bought used had 54,000 miles on it last year when we got rid of it... Kept having to add Dexcool.. Thought maybe the reservoir had a leak although I never saw anything. Went to AutoZone and bought a new tank (wishful thinking or denial I suppose) replaced it myself and topped it off. Next day bone dry underneath the car and hardly any DexCool.. Had my mechanic friend look at it.. Needs new Intake Gaskets and a bunch of hoses the stuff ate through that were replaced when she bought the car. It was sold that day and we bought a new Elantra instead.
