    WTF

Put a different grill on it and try to sell it - LOL

I've seen different numbers, but the latest I saw was $1360.00 of COST that was added to each GM vehicle to subsidise their pension plan.... well Honda's at $107.00 and Toyota is at $180.00 so go figure...

This greed has gone on long enough and the party's OVER.

It's like nobody understands that raising the cost to make a vehicle raises the selling price and makes it harder to sell.

    United Auto Workers - pfft

There was a time and place where the American work force was abused - but that time has long since passed.

I worked at a plant that "organized" (remember that unions are companies out to make a profit - some are even traded on the stock exchange - they are NOT "organizations" put in place to help you!)

    - well, when that plant organized, a worker that was getting $7.85 / per hour to press two palm button all day earned $15.00 / hour within the first year plus added benefits. The labor cost for our product essentially doubled so instead of copying off my prints and giving them to our shop, I emailed them to - you guessed it - China.

That company closed the manufacturing facility altogether and is now outsourcing all manufacturing. The heads of the factory workers are still spinning -they just don't understand and are VERY angry that our "GREED" drove us overseas - we were just trying to stay competitive with the other companies offering the exact same thing, but they still saw us as evil greedy people... In reaity it's either get competitive or close your doors!

I'm glad to have gotten away from that place, but still do quite a bit of manufacturing in China - we do, however, keep enough work in our plants to keep thm busy - the wages are fair and we're able to keep our cost in check. Raw materials cost the same here as they do overseas.... so it's ALL labor...

    Sorry - long post...

The problem runs much deeper than product. Last year GM sold 8.5 million vehicles world wide. Second only to Toyota. They should have made billions in profits instead of going bankrupt. However, if their product quality was higher, they could save money in warranty costs. I hear Ford saved over a billion dollars last year due to their improved quality. JMO.
