Anyone have a Go Pro mounted to the windshield mount? Will any Go Pro work? Does the mount do anything other than mount the camera - that is, is there any charging/electric connections to the mount?

You said that it will work with similar GP style mounts. Does that mean there are other cameras out there with the same mount that can be used besides GoPro? Brands?

Go to the thread I started: "Dash Camera Choice?" Many of the forum members replied with great advice with some discussing the GoPro as a dash camera.

Got the Hero 3 silver, not that impressed with video quality. It was a gift from the Fiancee so I'm stuck with what I have-- if I spend the extra $100 to $200 for the Hero 4 upgrade I will get caught and feelings will be hurt.

I just bought a Hero Session, and don't really like the field of view with the stock mount. if I use the app to adjust the angles/crop it looks better, but then lose quality.

What I don't understand is that anyone can buy a $2 GoPro mount and stick it on the windshield of any car/truck. If Toyota wanted to make people happy, they would have put a USB port on the back of the rearview mirror. I bet that comes with the 2017....

You can buy a GoPro to tripod mount on Amazon. That way you can use any camera with a tripod mount: Attach it to the GoPro adapter, and then to the windshield mount.

What model GoPro do you think is good, I see them on ebay for as little as $20, I'm not too familiar with the cameras but wouldn't mind getting one, after all, I do have the mount..:)

Smitty, I ve got the Hero 3 Black and it's a pretty good little camera, whats wrong with your video quality? I know sometimes you have to tweak the settings when you export the file to get good quality and sometimes youtube autoplays your videos at a lower quality and they look like shit. I usually film in 720p120fps so I can extract action photos from mountain biking, I ve also noticed light settings play a big role in quality with these cameras. My east coast videos always look like shit compared to my Colorado videos.

From The videos I've seen from the "Hero 4" the edges and overall the video during movement are much smoother than the videos from my "3" and that is on the highest video settings.

I have the Hero 3+ mounted, set at 1080p and my video comes out gorgeous. It just saves the files as 2GB files and eats up my 64GB stick quick, but the video is awesome.

I switched from the full case to the skeleton case for better audio. I use the GoPro app on my phone to preview the camera and configure the settings.

Why don’t they add a gopro app to the Tacoma so people can view the camera on the display screen?

I use this Crosstour 4K. It has awesome quality, 1080P@60fps, 16mp picture amd 170 degree lens. I had a go pro and prefer this cheap action camera to it. Plus it can with a slew of accessories and fits the trucks mount.

The Hero 3 silver (what smitty said he had) is a Hero 2 in a hero 3 shell, totally different than the Hero 3 black.
