I mounted a dedicated go pro to the windshield solely based on the fact that my Tacoma came with a mount because Toyota knows Tacoma people are always doing stuff that needs to be recorded.

    Working now a list
I run the hero 4 silver with the phone app.

I started using the phone app so I didn't have to lean over to then it on and off.

With the phone app you can aim, see what the view settings look like and start/stop recording without touching the GoPro. You can also delete videos. Cool features if you use it when driving on the street for accident protection.

Agree, there is a ton of different uses for them. I use mine for catching videos and pics of my kids.

I have the Hero 3 Silver (bought when I got my 16' Gen 3). I have used it on several occasions as a camera in my truck but living in the south the camera heats up tremendously from the sun coming in the window...even when the truck is in motion and AC is on. Seriously looking at the Crosstour as discussed in Post #17. There is even a less expensive version (12 MP) which should do fine for a car cam. The problem with the 4K model is one reviewer said it would only take up to a 32G card which I guess would be OK if it will over-write files in a continuous loop. Also, does anyone know if the GoPro accessories (such as external power cords) will fit the Crosstours?
