What kind do you have? I know there are hero, hero4, hero 5. What does each model do differently?

 

Mine is a Hero3+ Silver Edition

 

Why that one in particular?

 

I have a Hero 3 Black.

When I bought mine I wanted it all. 4K, 120 fps slow motion and max photo MP's.

I answered in the first post. You got me before the edit posted. Basically I wanted the best one they offered at the time.

Main two was the 120 fps slow motion and photo megapixels.

 

I've the Hero 3 silver about the time the 4 came out, but I got the 3 because I didn't care about the 4k. A photographer recommended it for value/performance and said the 4k quality would be lost to someone like me. I have a good kit now but the battery life seems to be the weak link for me.

How much memory do they Come with or is it on a card like a digital cam?

 

It uses a micro sd card.

Awesome man. I've enjoyed mine. Lot of fun taking it to the beach and getting out in the water taking pics and video with it. The new ones are even better than mine. Plus if you add the drone later you can do all kinds of things with them.

 

I know nothing of these. Do they plug in to your 12v connection (Cig lighter) or Battery or what?

 

No problem. While answering you I saw the prices on the Hero+, I'll be buying another for both directions on the trail

 

They have a USB cord with them that you can plug into a wall USB receptacle or into a computer to charge them. You can use a USB outlet in a truck also.

 

I do photography for a university, don't judge by photos on here. I use the Hero 3 black, really does most of everything the newer ones do. You can tell me it doesn't shoot 4k, or the high speed frame rate, but, a majority of audiences you will display to do not have the technology to display the 4k or newer technologies they offer(not going to bore with details).

Bottom line figure out what you are going to use it for. I use mine for time lapses, and some video (I have a small gimbal and it works great for that). Keep in mind what GoPro's are designed for, it's an action camera, not a DSLR with image processors and full manual functionality. My .02, great product for what it is made to do.

 

Why does it matter if their Wi-fi enabled or not?

 

If it is WiFi enabled, you can control it from your phone. No other advantage I have found.

 

You can connect to your phone or tablet and have a live view, very nice to have if you are setting up a time lapse so you can actually see whats in the frame, also have full control over the camera settings. You can also view pictures videos that you have recorded, as well as transfer them to the device to post them wherever

 

The 3 Black does do 4K and has the 120 fps in 720p mode. 60 fps in 1080p.
