I've read through just about every roof rack topic I can find but I have some specific questions regarding the GOBI rack for 3rd gen Tacos hoping someone can shed some light. The Gobi is in my opinion the best looking and most functional rack out there and it better be for the price but a few questions for anyone with first hand experience...

    1. It appears that the side rail runs around the sides and rear of the rack and then bumps up in the front of the rack. Does this keep the front and rear rails level to the ground by making up for the slight down slope in the cab roof of the Tacoma or does this front top tube protrude up from the rear rail? Wondering if surfboards/kayaks/canoes lashed on top will get a nose up into the wind as a result of the higher front bar or at least sit level? Slight nose down would be ideal but that's unlikely from the pics I've seen.

    2. What does this rack weigh? Any idea on the gauge of steel?

    3. Wind noise? Just would like to know how much noise this thing adds to the ride inside. Yes, I am well aware that all racks add noise and drag, I get it and have used many over the years from ARB, to Thule, Yakima, home-made and more on different vehicles. Just looking for noise opinions on this specific rack, specifically for Tacomas by those who have first hand experience with them.

    Thank you in advance!

Hello SC, Finally received my Gobi Ranger Rack Multi-Light Setup last week. I had to wait 9 months due to the backlog of orders and the CV-19 work restrictions. I did the install yesterday by myself. Took around 3.5 hours. Let me know if you still need answers to your questions.
