This one is real simple, but I use it all the time and have forgotten the GFC didn’t come this way.

It’s just a length of shock cord run around the perimeter of the bed, routed through the GFC mounts and tied to the tie downs at either end.

It does daily duty holding the bed square and rear window insulation against the cab, but on a trip it holds a million things: shoes, coats, water bottles, etc. 5D4C70F6-358F-48B0-8A3F-957892E4E221.jpg7ED2394B-C67B-4396-A8EB-AAEAD2275EF3.jpg

Saying that it keeps the bed square is a stretch, but it certainly has a lot of utility

Ha! I was referring to the leftover square from the GFC bed, but in hindsight I could have made that a bit more obvious.

Here's a picture of the underside of the platform. Those 2x4's just rest in the bed of the truck, on top of the wheel wells.

What's that support with the metal piece you have your hand on?

2x4 screwed into the bottom of the platform via joist bracket, for a little extra support when I'm standing right in the middle of the plywood!

I have an F150 with GFC due maybe in August. Trying to figure out how to set up bed like yours as I don't have the same set up on wheel wells. Thanks for info.

Yes that's the one I purchased. I didn't move it from where it is because my rear awning is up there and would block the view. Also, on the bumper I have had no problems. Truck and I like to go swimming and it was even hit by a Jeep on a trail once. All it did was move upward and I just had to move the camera angle back down. It's been on the truck more than a year now. I highly recommend it.

Has anyone else attempted this with their camper? I got mine a couple weeks ago and have spent several nights in it and definitely think this is a necessary mod for wet weather camping. Ideas?

Just how it was working for you mostly? are the tabs holding well at the bottom of the door? I dont have a method for making the plastic tabs where the pole ends are anchored. I could probably come up with something else. Just wondered how well it sheds rain etc.

    thanks

awesome, thanks for the info. I didnt notice the square tubing from the pics in the other thread, but that makes a lot of sense now. I definitely think that is a must have mod though, especially in areas where it is often rainy. now finding a couple spare RTT poles may be the hard part.

Where did you connect the wire harness? Just at the connector behind the tailgate?

Added a little grab handle to the tailgate to help my girlfriend and myself close the tailgate while in the camper. Makes life a little easier.

It connects right into the existing line back there. Unplug old, plug in new. You can get longer wires from those guys, but where I have it I didn't need it.

Just don’t get your foot caught under it when you step down off the tailgate!
