Mocking my roof rack back up after install and wondering if this is enough clearance. Not sure how much the bed actually flexes but I don’t do any hardcore wheeling.

Another thought I had was to just notch out the area that would come into contact with the GFC.

You'd be surprised at how much flex there is even on street driving. I learned this by mounting my rain guards 1 t slot too low looked like I had plenty of room but still rubbed my sherpa animas on the street. Based on your sketch You're gonna want to extend that red line down more

Wow surprised the bed flexes that much even with street driving. This is the amount of clearance with the Martin roof rack which is why I figured trimming up to the red line would suffice.

I'm not sure what the marketing is but I would imagine one it blocks the sunlight from coming through in the mornings and as well as helping against the condensation that can settle up there through the night. Also looks a little "homier".

Condensation reduction is the biggest benefit as the slick material used on the ceiling panel would gather condensation and it would slide down to the low point in the frame getting people/bedding wet

The other benefit is reduced light coming in through the white roof panel.

I'm really curious how the light kit will be mounted with a headliner...you just gonna cut strips out of the headliner? or

Anyone have their 3rd brake light go out? Mine did sometime in the last couple months. got a replacement light on the way, figure I'll go with the cheapest fix first (i don't know how to do/test electrical)

TBH I’m not really sure if I’m going to install them , I got tired of waiting after I ordered them and ended up getting a set of @mattgecko lights.

For that install I ended up running them on the channel in the sleeping area. Like shown in one of his install videos. So the headliner won’t be in contact with them.

I’ve been real happy with his lights.

Here is a pic of the lower section. I don’t have a pic of the uppers at the moment sorry.

As for the 3rd brake light , mine is still good. However I’ve been wanting to upgrade to the Baja 3rd brake light just haven’t gotten around to it. I have the housing, just need to order the lights.

Yeah it’s definitely big and heavy. I have a SB , and it pretty much lives where you see it in the pic. It has never gotten in the way when we are camping.

Fortunately the truck isn’t a daily driver , and if I ever need to haul larger items I just use my work van lol

Gotcha. I have the mattgecko kit as well, very happy with it. mine are placed like 4-6 inches in from the sides of the top panel, I didn't do the install. No need for pics now but some pics with the lights on when you get the headliner installed would be great :)

Will do , it’s supposed to be delivered Tuesday. So weather permitting I’m going to try to install it next weekend. But I’ll get some pics for you whenever I get it installed.

Here’s what I ended up cutting out. Will test this out for now but so far so good after hitting some speed bumps at a decent speed.

Stoked to get out there soon!!

I plan on getting a sheet set and window cover from Overland Softgoods. Also plan on running the camper lights off a Dewalt battery with a cigarette socket adapter. Still waiting on the headliner kit to arrive

I would recommend the half rack over the full length roof rack. But if you’re going to keep the full rack, chop everything at the lowest point straight back. There is a risk of the rear part of your cut still making contact with the bottom panel of the tent and punching a hole into it. Plus half of your rack is now useless due to the front of the camper.
