I have a Dometic CFX 40 and it stays cold no problem. My camper is white though.

I’m mounting Baja designs “dome light with switch” on each panel. So far I have one, now I’m waiting for the other 2 to get here. I’m really happy with it so far as a mellow area light. I also have a telescopic light mount on my rear bumper that has an Amazon led work light on it, but that’s getting changed out with a Baja designs s2 sport. I thought about mounting some s2’s on the upper tent extrusion so I’d have light from way up high, but I don’t think that would be necessary.

I have an arb 50 qt in the bed of my truck and it is much happier in the shade of the (black) gfc than out in the sun like it was before.

I’d like to see the temperature difference between the bed of the truck and the cab of the truck. I think the cab might get hotter, but that’s just my opinion.

I love the look of the S2 sports, but the way post people have them mounted they appear to shoot out more than down. I'll check out the dome lights too, not a bad idea!

I'm thinking about mounting a temp sensor in mine now, because during the trip out to grab the GFC, it often felt like the camper was cooler than it was outside, and definitely cooler than the cab.

Alright, looking at this I have a thought. What could I used that is less than an inch thick, but still strong enough to support our weight? I want to change the honeycomb out on the bottom and add more / softer padding.
    Thoughts?

The problem would be is that the 1" honeycomb is incorporated into the overhang and the large removable panel.

Anything thinner will have to be heavier, HDPE should be strong enough to work at .5" maybe .375"

Ya? Figures.... Still maybe worth looking into.

True, I'd take the extra weight over comfort. I really don't like the new mattress. I didn't sleep well at all on it. So it's become a bit of a priority in my head at least. I could just toss a memory foam mattress up there and be fine, but it's so nice and easy right now to not have to deal with that. lol

Baltic birch would probably be strong enough. A lighter option might be triple wall poly carbonate sheet.https://www.homedepot.com/p/Sunlite...-Clear-Triplewall-Roof-Panel-109923/204249541 Of course there's 1/4" aluminum sheet but it has zero insulating qualities.

Alright, Looking at how it's all made, you are probably right, it's not going to be worth the trouble.

Yeah, I have another sensor on the way because I’m curious as well. For my next trip I’m keeping the cooler inside the cab when driving around. The stat struggle is real, I keep inundating myself with stats now that it’s so easy to track everything

Something I’ve been wondering too. Anyone using LED light strips? A multi coloured one may be quite good as you could swap it to red light when wanted. Could stick it either on the inside of the doors, or under an awning?

My Dometic has done great in the GFC. I spent some time in Moab last year with the fridge under a softopper with outside temps around 117 and it still did great.

I just have a grizzly, no fancy fridge yet. It does considerably better inside the cab with the windows down. I’ll have temp data soon to corroborate it

I've worked with the Honeycomb material and it's by far the strongest and lightest material for that application. I think GFC nailed it with the bed panel material. 1/2" will flex too much. Keep your honeybomb and add latex foam to your mattress. Get a topper or replace the foam with latex. I've mentioned this in the other GFC thread, but don't use memory foam, as it is temperature-sensitive and will get too firm in cold climates.

I have the domestic cfx40. I have been using it in the corner closest to the cab on the passenger side and can easily reach in through the side door.

I run the small CFX28. That’s enough for me and the girlfriend for a few days. Love the fridge so far.

Would 2" of latex be thick enough not to bottom out for side sleepers?
