$30ish cheaper (on Amazon), same 900 CFM, 1” lower profile, 2 lifting arms rather than 1 on the fantastic, and the lid locks.

Since I’m going to be installing it backwards I thought it would be wise to get one with a little more secure lid in the event that wind would catch it just right.
Read back a few posts. I talked more about it and got a pointer from someone else that made me lean more towards the MaxxFan Mini.

If it turns out to be junk for some reason at least it has the same footprint as the old trusty Fantastic Fan.

Yeah, driving with the lid open won’t be an option. I never really planned to anyways. Just hope I don’t forget to close it, haha.
The reason it’s reversed is so the lid opens at the correct angle and will block rain from falling directly in. (Obviously)

Also the MaxxFan Mini is not a reversible fan. It only sucks, no blow.
I don’t think pushing hot air off the ceiling against the back tent wall on to my head would do me any good anyways. I plan to suck air from the bed of the truck and through the windows.
I’m pretty confident this will eliminate most of my condensation and comfort issues.

I installed a Fantastic Fan a few years ago in my dads 6x12 enclosed cargo trailer and it is amazing. I’m hoping it sucks the tent closed on me. :)

Cx75dzw with a Renogy 170 Ah LiFePo4. Just did a test run for a long weekend. The fridge and the inverter powering my laptop brick only dropped my battery to 70% in 90 degree temps. Didn't hook up any charging yet (solar, alternator) because I wanted to verify that one battery was sufficient.

Nice! I'm actually planning on installing my fan tomorrow. I'm hoping it's not gonna be too much of a pain.

I'm using the maxxfan mini. I saw the same discussion you did in the drifter thread and it sounded like a good choice.

A fan has been on my mod list since before I got the camper so I'm pretty excited to get it done. Hopefully it all goes well.

I'm not positive how I'm going to attach it yet. I've got a plasma table at my shop so I'm going to wing it and adapt as I go haha.

Good luck brother! If you’re done any time before this weekend you’ll be the first I know of.
I’m hoping to get mine done this Saturday. Snap lots of pics for rest of us!
If we don’t see them we’ll just assume you screwed up bad. Hahaha.

Sorry to burst your bubble but I know at least one of the original GFC's had a fan installed during production. I'm pretty sure it was an option early on that was removed.

Why not use VHB tape or a strong adhesive? Through bolting would work most effectively if sleeves were around the bolts and there's probably not much meat between the bolt and the opening . Also I noticed that there's a lot of holes in the bracket so you would need a lot bolts for even loading. That VHB tape is very effective.

I'm kind of leaning towards vhb tape and silicone and possibly a bolt on each corner with a tee nut through the bottom.

Well I got the hole cut. I figured the roof would be 1" this, but it's only 1/2".

Oh fuck. That’s new. Now what?

You’re for sure going to need a half inch thick picture framed shaped bracket to go on the inside and through bolts.

    This changes a lot....

I think I can still get away with going directly to the roof and not needing a spacer. It will just stick inside a 1/2". I run my rear cushions upside down so it gains me a little room.
