Finished up just before it started raining on me.

1” bolts were too long. I wasn’t sure how much Butyl Tape or Lap Sealant was going to space it out so I just used the ones I had. They stick down a little obviously but when I get shorter screws for the shroud it should still cover them ok I suppose.
Maybe I’ll cut them off? Not sure yet?
The corner Tee Nuts are still going to show. That’s my fault for drilling the wide ones when I originally had plans of adding the 1/2” spacer to the inside.
I’ll live with that.

As far as testing it goes, I haven’t wired it yet.

Nope. Realized it’s not needed. I thought way too hard about this. Glad everyone else chimed in though. Helped a lot.

Do 3/4” machine bolts though instead of 1”. Lol

 

Not sure if your sealant has to cure or not - but either way, couldn't you swap the bolts out one at a time without upsetting the seal too much?

 

Yeah I could. Just run them back in with some sealant one at a time.
It would probably be okay.

 

All the input pictures and back and forth on the fan installations is awesome. Great work all.

 

I camped with the fan for the first time last night. It makes it so much nicer to move air through the tent. I'll post up my wiring pictures later on, but you will love having the fan. My wind deflector also worked perfectly. We drove over 1,000 miles in the last two days with a ton of strong head winds and crosswinds and everything has held up great.

 

How does a 1" mattress topper feel compare to the 3" that came with the GFC?

 

Nice job on the install and wind deflector. Looks professional and a creative way to make and install the wind deflector.

 

Fan wiring ran.
Ran it all the way down and dropped it through the hole in the front bed panel that overhangs the cab.

Wassup with all these GFC fan boys?!?!? Bahaha ....I’ll walk myself out but before I go can someone tell me if the gfc is compatible with the rubber pieces that come with stock tonneau cover? It’s the two pieces that help seal the bed near the cab.

 

Yeah. Takes 3 AAA batteries.
The light inside the house actually moves back and forth and you can aim it different directions. Works great!

I didn't look at one like that. I'm not sure if it would block rain or not. And it's nice to have different fan speeds and to be able to completely close it off. And the fan on high feels really nice when it's warm and humid.

 

At first I thought no way this one would work but on second thought it might if you created a deflector to force the exhaust out the sides and mounting it "Correctly". It would work as designed with the GFC closed going down the road. When the GFC is opened the deflector would keep the rain out. One other consideration would be dust getting in since the vent is never totally closed.

 

Honestly, 200cfm isn’t that much.
Even the 900cfm that we have I’m not completely blown (or sucked) away by its performance on these really hot days.
I haven’t camped with it yet.
It looks like if the tents open you’re going to get rained in.
Mounting that backwards would be a ram air no go. Lol
