On my camper I don't notice any noise. They look nice though.

Thanks for the reply! I'll take the wait and see approach instead of buying it right away once I pick it up

I went with the wind skid primarily for looks. I thought my orange frame would include orange bars front and back for contrast against a black GFC. The newer models don’t have the colored bars. I got it also bc they said it would help with bug removal with washing. They told me with the GFC you don’t need it because it’s a fixed unit versus the RTT that has to sit on a rack.

Wait, they aren't color matching the pivot/grab bars anymore? For the price I payed for a "custom" color, I hope they do!

no, the new aluminum crossbars are only available in black regardless of the color you choose for the frame. you can still get the old steel ones color-matched.

Yeah it’s not color matched just the main frame. The grab bars are integrated into the roof somehow on these new gen ones

I got the orange frame, it’s not custom, but you can see the grab bar is black but it’s not necessarily an isolated bar, it’s covered with this textured coating but it’s black.
I’m not sure if anyone can speak to having a custom color frame and whether the the grab bar is color matched to the custom color

I guess black isn't so bad, I just always dug the bit of color. I'm having my frame powder coated red and thought having red bars would look good. I wonder if it throws a wrench into the assembly process if they have to get them powder coated differently. Steel or aluminum shouldn't make a difference, afaik. I could always mask off the camper and spray the lead bar myself sometime downtime road.

It's entirely possible they did and I just missed it. Think I'll send them a note and see if it can still be done. I think they aren't cutting tubes on mine for a few more weeks, yet.

Has anyone thought about how to lock the pop-up? Seems like it would be easy to break into by popping the tent up and climbing in through a panel regardless if the hatches are all locked. Might be worth looking into before storing thousands of dollars worth of equipment and electronics in there. Has anyone had any experience with this issue? Thanks!

It’s been brought up with various methods either thrown out there or experimented with. So far I haven’t heard of anyone having there camper broken into by someone popping the top. It’s a lot faster and less obvious to just use a crowbar and break open a side panel.

There are several pad-lockable latch options that people have posted on GFC's forums, that bolt to the tent extrusions. There are many other ideas people have discussed on this forum as well if you search this and the other GFC thread for the word "lock".

That being said - a small prybar is going to make short work of any of the panels if a thief wants in.

I don’t even think you would need a pry bar. You can just wrap your fingers around the corner of the door and pull it hard enough to break it open.
Or take a razor blade or knife right down the henge and the door would fall off.
I leave mine unlocked all the time. Nothing of value inside most of the time and if there is I’m usually in it.

How did spraying all the holes for corrosion work out I wondering if I should do the same this is what gfc told me but I'm still thinking it's from condensation building up in hallow tubes

Why would condensation build up in the tubes? Condensation occurs in the tent because a human is breathing out moist air that then contacts the cold fabric and condenses.

The moisture in the tube is from water wicking up the bolts or entering other pathways into the tube. The problem is once it's there it has no easy way back out and will stay there. It's not an uncommon problem but definitely should have been anticipated and steps should have been in place to prevent it.

Idk man I thought that shits from moisture in the air I just assumed hollow cold pipes in a really humid place caused it like have a buddy heater inside warming up the topper but being by a lake in the winter like in Minnesota. I haven't even seen this thing in real life so I dont know how its intact and put together I look up mods in anticipation since it's almost complete next thing I know I'm in a rabbit hole about issue idk existed a month ago I been read n guessing nonstop so I guess on this issue to cold air wet air get trapped in the the tude then warms up inside n releases the moisture

The hollow pipes are welded together and capped off. There shouldn't be any air exchange from outside to inside.
