I had Timbren shocks installed on top of the factory leaf springs for a previous camper. The guys at GFC said I should be good to go to leave them on. I have a 2004 Tacoma.

Also running a deaver stage three with a rear swing out. No tire on it tho as I pre run with it a little too fast to have so much weight out back

anyone mount an awning off the back yet? how's the access to open/close the lid with the awning there? would be looking at a 48 or 55 off the back with walls to create an annex like feature..

I'm going with Dakar D2s which are good for about 600lbs. About half the cost of Deavers. This is part of a suspension upgrade that includes OME Nitrochargers and a rear drive shaft spacer and possibly a cab mount chop. I'm also putting on BFG 285/70/16 KM3s.

True, I might have to upgrade the springs later on when I'm overlanding for months at a time, but that's a good two years from now. Most of the time (when it's the daily driver) the bed will be empty except for the GFC and a rear bumper. Another reason: The GFC wont be built until July of next year, so Deavers now would be a huge overkill.

the KM3s are amazing. have the same size. Very quiet and great street and off road performance. As far as the OME, I think there are better shocks out there for the money

I went with 884s up front and General Spring HD in the rear. Bilstein 5100 all around. I am really happy with it. I don’t have the GFC yet, but I have hauled lots of gear, rock, concrete, and brick. They ride well unloaded and don’t sag much loaded down.

Anyone mounted anything ODD in the side extrusions??

I’ve only seen sensible mods like sprit levels and awning brackets, the oddest thing I’ve seen is a bottle opener but who really wants one above head height?

I put some small single row led bars. (4” from Amazon) They work great when trying to find a flat off trail campsite.

Nice yeah, did you hardwire them? If so I’m interested in how you ran the cables?

I used cable clip-clamps and gfc t nuts. I ran them next to my solar panel output between the cab and the gfc. I tapped into my hi-beams near the headlight housing which splits to two relays. One for the forward led bar and one for the side mounted ones (ditch lights and the gfc mounted ones) I have two switches next to my fog light button. Makes it easy to switch all the lights on and off with the stock hi-beam lever.

to help with the pull down of the wedge, i put one of these in the back and have a strap attached.. it is a quick disconnect, so i take it off when not at camp... https://www.uscargocontrol.com/2-Track-Anchor-Point-Tie-Down-Kit-Black

plan is to mount my baja designs dust lights in the back... i have to figure out a mounting solution for a 55" awning in the back first to see how they can both fit...

will most likely end up with my shovel on the side using a warrior quicklatch mount, https://warriorproducts.com/quicklatch-10375-universal-accessory.html

I'm still trying to figure how to go about adding a fire pit up there I'm thinking making a metal box n having the lid pop up with linear actuators n keeping one of those small biolite fireplaces n throwing some magenta on the bottom to keep it in place when in use n so it dont slide around in the box I make but that's for a later date my main plain get the entertainment set up the the hot water so I can make hot coco n watch movies out side
