Hoping someone with a 2Nd Taco can provide some height measurements for me. I am looking for the following height measurements:

    1. Height of the top on the GFC from the roof.
    2. Height of the top on the GFC from the bed rail.

    Thanks in advance.

If anyone is looking for dimensions of the Maxxair vs the Dometic fans....

    for the Maxxair 4301K, 4401K, 4000K and 4500K
    [IMG]

the Dometic uses a high profile base which has less hanging down, but more above the mounting surface... there are flat lids available that would reduce the amount sticking up below these values.

I purchased the Duluth Trading Company Seat Back Bunker a week or so ago when Duluth was having a 30% OFF sale for my soon to be F350 work truck.

However I found that it is basically built for my GFC. The color looks awesome with the cement on the truck and this should supply a great amount of storage in the bed. Duluth makes some very high quality canvas items which I have used for many years on the job. I also own two of their grey dog seat covers which I like in the Tacoma as well and a front seat organizer.

I was able to cut the very end off of the adjustment strap and melt the end and fish it though the top support bars on the GFC and then thread the clip back though it. Super easy!

One downfall is it blocks your sight out of the rear window (obviously) if you have one which I do but hardly ever use since I’m used to driving work trucks and vans without a rear view anyways. I regret getting windows at all actually.

Anyways, I thought some of you might find this a good easy solution for some of your storage needs.

Now I have to buy another for the work truck I suppose…

Has anyone changed out their rear tube from the steel one to the new aluminum one? If so how did you do it?

I changed from old steel one to new steel one. It wa simple. Loosen bolts remove. There’s enough play that it comes out easily. Took me 10 minutes.

what bolts did you loosen to remove? The steel tube seem to be sandwiched between the milled aluminum end plates.

Im curious too! I had the little screw lever fall out on one of the licking pins. GFC said I have to take the bar off and the pin will be inside still. I hope I don't mess it up. Any tips?

Can anyone hook me up with a link for the heavy duty drawer slides you used on your drawer systems??

Anybody find a good alternative to the GFC T nuts? I am looking build my own rack system, and the T nuts that GFC sells use 10-32 bolts. That seems a bit small for a rack. The 1/4-20 T nuts that come with the beef racks and awning mounts have the threads protruding about 0.1” out from the extrusion, making it difficult to mount something up tight without an extra plate similar to their dog bones (could use a big washer, but I’m looking for a better solution). It is fine if they have to slide in from the end rather than rotate in the the GFC T nuts.

    Thanks!

Was screwing around with the solar panel and other parts that have come in so far. Built a temp setup for lights. Waiting on some more parts to come in but I think it will work for a few early trips until I rip it apart and start over. 20200126_130925.jpg 20200126_155127.jpg 20200126_153346.jpg

I'm curious to know if you're running dimmable lights & if each led strand has 2 different colors (in you case red/ white)?

No these are only white. I do plan on wiring in a dimmer switch for the lights up top. Going to wire the dimmer a double usb and a cigarette charger into a junction box up in the bed area.

Super basic, Decided to build my own version of the flight deck. Three pieces in all and can be removed and stored when not in use, will be great for dogs or kids down below. The key thing was to be able to store my spare tire underneath, Costed about $80 from good old Home Depot

Just got my color sample package today. So now I've got to choose. The colors are easy: Orange Frame and Gray panels. But what about windows? So, for those who have them, are you pleased with the addition? For those that don't, do you wish you had gotten them?

Any further window information due to your experience with/without them would be helpful.

    Thanks.

Many will disagree but I got both windows and wish I hadn’t.
I’m used to driving without a rear view mirror in the cab and only side mirrors. I already covered over the cab side window with a seat back organizer for gear storage so I can’t see out of it anyways. I pack my gear well enough that I don’t need to look into the back to watch it bounce around and my dog rides in the cab.
It really didn’t serve a lot of purpose for me personally and I wish I wouldn’t have got them. It’s just one more potential problem down the road if one breaks or leaks.

Are you able to open the window between the GFC and cab? I've never looked into the windows with much detail and the only benefit I can think of is seeing my dog and them being able to see me if they're in the bed while I'm driving.
