No informed opinion on the windows as I don't have them but to me the tent side door is a must. Being able to easily enter with the tailgate closed is awesome.

depends where you will have your spare or if you want to use organizers on the back wall...

if you put your spare in the bed vertical on that back wall.. then it's pointless... a lot of swing arms will have the tire nearly blocking the back window views.

there's organization options that you can use on that back wall which would then block your view...

but if you plan to keep the bed free of visual obstructions and the tire won't be mounted in a way to block your view... the window is a good idea.

i haven't had any camping time in mine yet, so idk how much i'll be using the rear window to view out of... maybe if it's raining, the rear window would be good to view out of..even though it's kind of small. i'll be going with an awning off the back with a room so rainy days i'd have that room to hang out in anyway.

i got mine slightly used and had the windows already in it.. if i had to build mine, i'd probably save money and opt out of it since i'll never have a clear viewing path out the windows.

The only reason I sometimes wish I had a window is for backing up a trailer. Otherwise, it would be of no use to me. I went with no windows and am perfectly happy with my decision.

I have the window to the cab and don’t think it was necessary at all. I would have saved the $ and gone no windows.

Yeah, I think I'm going to pass on the windows. Thanks for the input, everybody.

Has anyone put a folding step on the side of their truck to make it easier to get in the side of the tent without using a ladder?

I have both windows, I like being able to see out the back. But, really not necessary especially with one of those handy costco camera setups. Whatever choice you make will be good for you!

I am able to step on my tire/high clearance bumper, the 2 inch of bedcap sticking out and then in.

I could have probably gone without but I Really like my window.

You can cover it for heat

Its nice when It’s cold and you want to be able to see things without using lights or opening a panel when the wind is howling. If you plan on converting the bed to a sleeping platform for kids then it’s great for them to see out I’d guess.

In my case money wasn't a factor, so I'd rather have them than wish I had them. Also I tinted the rear glass with a ceramic film that has maximum heat resistance, and also makes it real hard to see inside too for security sake.

While driving I am able to see things I wouldnt always see just using side mirrors. To me cameras are just an odd way of looking at things, so I'd never get used to relying on them.
If I have to hunker down back there to ride out a storm say, it's so nice to be able to see out. Even while sitting on the tailgate lets me look up and still see the sky.
I personally see no downside to having them.
    Good luck with your decision.

I will pick up mine soon, and I hope the windows were a good decision. I know from driving in "sloppy road conditions" that the rear window on my current topper gets scuzzed up quickly, so I expect I will need to carry a squeegee around with me after I get the GFC on.

I went with Windows, I like to see out the back.

A squeegee is a must, and is also useful for taking out the front panel. Being able to clean your rear window after a trip is really great, and whatever those quarter turn nuts on the front panel are neat.

    It's DLX son!
Can you elaborate on how you pull the front panel? Are you able to remove and install without unbolting the camper and moving it back?

Yep, if you look at the outside of the panel, you can see there are several standard “bolts”. On the backside, there are clips mounted to the panel. All it takes is a quarter turn to remove them.

The panel can be removed carefully, and both windows cleaned. No unbolting of the GFC required

I went with Llumar's FormulaOne Pinnacle series film. What they call 15% tint. Lifetime transferrable warranty as well. Believe it cost me $90 installed, could have been much less using a cheaper film. Buy once, cry once is my motto.
