Do most people run the bed stiffeners when you have the GFC?

Most people recommend it. The topper itself isn't all that heavy, but adding the combined weight of multiple people, gear, etc., will push out the sides of the beds. It's probably more conditional on how often you use it, how hard you wheel when fully loaded, etc. My gfc will be ready in early 2021...I'm definitely installing stiffeners beforehand.

Doesn't the tube frame of GFC keep the bed from flexing out?

My build was moved up from September to June! :bananadance:

Now ive got to get started on planning some mods. Ill be upgrading my solar panel from 100w to 175w, diy cross bars, and probably an adjustable internal light. I want to do a bed buildout like below, but i need to do some drawings for that first.

Also will be doing kbvoodoo flat bed rail caps, and I will sell my Prinsu before I pick it up.

Looking forward to seeing how you build it out! I think I'm going to do a single drawer on the passenger side about as wide as my fridge to mount on top, then make an additional panel that sits at the front of the bed to create a mattress space for a child. Just have to wait until we don't need a crib anymore.

Debating whether or not to install a heater or get a portable heater setup. Would like to mount a water tank at the front of the bed or in the spare tire location as well. Can't decide if I'd rather pressurize it with my air compressor or run an electric pump.

Ill try to draw up something later today when I get into work. I have my 2nd battery on my passenger side next to the cab, but in the bed. Currently my fridge is mounted on a piece of 1/2" plywood, but i want to move it to some L track. I also have a box of recovery gear on the passenger side too.

I want to build a taller box for the driver side, from 8020 and hpde, and use as a step. Hmm, actually i need to think about it more. I kinda want a built in stove on a slide. I am not at that point yet though

I think I want to build an entire floor platform out of 1/2" or 3/4" plywood and carpet the open side as well. My fridge currently just sits freely in the bed. With the amount of junk I have to pile into the bed it doesn't move. Really want to hurry up and get a roof rack and swing-out bumper to get a bunch of stuff out of the bed.

Currently we just use the fridge as a step, although that's kind of frowned upon given it literally has a no-step picture on the lid haha

I'd love to run an expedition essentials fold-out stove/table setup on a swingout, but Tacoma swing-outs don't seem to have enough room to mount one without hitting the tailgate.

Check out Dirt Lifestyle on YouTube. I think he has a fold down table, where he drops a single burner into. I think its on his Land Rover build series. At least I thought it was a good idea.

I am trying to lighten up my rear end. My high clearance/swingout/spare tire is about 350lbs. I think total rear weight is going to be around 650-700lbs. Im going to be selling my Prinsu to fit my GFC. I don't plan on adding one of those shorter racks.

You'd think so, but from all the info I've read that's not the case. The space frame is rigid, but the bed can still flex...think lateral torsion from the side to side motions of off-roading. I'm no engineer, nor do I have first hand experience. It's a risk I'm not willing to take, so bed stiffeners are getting installed.

I will probably add them just gotta figure out which ones will work and thinking about getting goose gear deck later in its life. Yes my GFC pushed up for a build date of June 2021 as well. I am just trying to get the last little bit of the small things in order to get ready for the GFC to live on the bed.

Nice! maybe Ill see you out there when i drive out. Its 31 hours for me to get there.. 2k miles one way.

The only things I am doing to get ready for the GFC to live on the bed, is replace the bed rail caps with some flat ones from KB Voodoo, and sell my Prinsu/reinstall the roof moldings

We actually might haha that would be pretty funny. Its about 1200 miles for me around 17 hour drive, I am defiantly making a week long road trip out of it.

I dont think I can to the flat caps but that does sound like a good idea I have a 2020 taco.

3rd gen caps are more flat than 2nd gens. I have about 1/2" of plastic that warps when weight is applied.

Have you gotten your color sample box yet?
