Did you only use tape or did you use any type of silicone/foam insulation as well?

I just put tape on the caps. I replaced my caps with flat aluminum ones from kbvoodoo, but that only applies to 2nd gens.

There are some spaces in the top corners of the bed where the sides meet the front wall, that some silicone or rtv could be filled.

There are also some rubber seals that you could get for the tailgate side

Did you get the tailgate cap as well?

Considering swapping out my factory bedrail covers with those KB voodoo ones...seems like a nice clean solution.

does the fact it mounts behind the t nut rails change the geometry of how the GFC is mounted at all? i mean you have one, so i can't imagine it makes much of a difference if at all.

Also, looks like that route may not be workable unless i change out my TC bed stiffeners...looks like they might share a hole

I had a previous Mobtown tailgate cap. But both dont work together.

The bed side caps/GFC mounting is not changed, or so little that it doesnt affect how the GFC is mounted.

The GFC is "designed" for the factory bed side caps, so they claim that anything aftermarket should be removed before install. The 2nd gen factory caps are tall (taller than 3rd gens) and not suited for weight placed on them. Ive had a bed rack/RTT for a few years and I had some deformity. But GFC does work with you (in my case, I brought them a case of beer, and they installed my GFC with no issues and no clearance issues). In the case of the tailgate cap, they removed it there, but gave it back to me to figure out at home.

I havent messed with it yet. My plans are to wallow out some holes and remove the 2 star bolts on the top side of the tailgate, so I can make it sit more flush. As of right now, I dont have anything protecting the top side. I also didnt mess with it because I was making a tailgate reinforcement/flat plate because I didnt want to spend $200+ on a trailgate or Mountain Hatch (I think I spent $80 shipped and some time trimming the aluminum. I used 1/8" 6061).

I guess the only issue is that there is contact on both sides here. I used a file to grind it down a little. Its not going to rust, since its aluminum. Just doesnt look that great when you are 6 inches from it. Farther away, cant even see that anything was done.

Noted on the case of beer! I'll keep that in mind haha.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but it looks like you have bed stiffeners as well that go all the way up. Was there any issue mounting the KB Voodoo bedrail caps while having those stiffeners as well?

I have the Total Chaos bed stiffeners that go all the way up. I had to cut a 3/4"x3/4" piece out of the kbvoodoo rails. Doesnt affect anything as there is still 1 bolt holding it at that end, on each side. Touched it up with black spray paint, and you wouldnt even know anything was done!

The previous owner of my Taco had a Snugtop, roof rack and Roofnest RTT without bed stiffeners. Think I should install any before my GFC install? And to clarify, it's ok to use the KB VooDoo bedrail caps with a GFC v2? (I have a 2011 2nd gen.)

Also, got this note from Gage Martin re: his Camper rack, in case anyone's interested: "We are currently testing some universal light bar mounts and hope to have them available in the next week or two!"

Ah, looks like there might be a height issue, however, if you have a Martin Offroad Camper rack? My bedrail / tailgate caps look really good despite having all of that previous weight on it, so I may just wait so I don't have to make any mods.

I sold my Prinsu. Not sure about others. But i was having a hard time with clearance. What kind of antenna do you have also? Shark fin wont work. You either need a delete kit or the little OEM one. Being a 2011, you might already be good.

The factory bed rails are probably deformed. And most likely going to let dirt in (if you care about that).

Yeah, I was going to at the very least tape up the rails and silicone holes like you suggested earlier ... but don't want to have any clearance issues as I want to keep this rack. This is the antennae on my (dirty) roof; looks like the OEM.

Let me try to find the part number. Best bet will be ebay and it probably wont paint match. You will need to pull the 3rd brake light and/or drop the back part of the headliner

This thread has some part numbers with paint codes.
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/any-ideas-for-removing-xm-radio-antenna.201483/#post-9944681

Heres a black one on ebay.
    https://www.ebay.com/itm/264905243396?fits=Year:2009|Model:Tacoma|Make:Toyota

Id also try searching for XM antenna for 09-11. Pre 09 didnt have anything on the roof, and I believe 12+ has the sharkfin

ah what would I do without you guys <3

i'll have to look into ebay, since Anderson seems to be sold out, though I asked if he'll be having anymore for sale soon.

Tempted to just chop off the top since it seems the top half is basically just empty plastic...not sure how i'd seal it though. was hoping i wouldn't have to pull the headliner but seems that's the only way to get to it really.
