I have a GoFastCamper on my 2019 Tacoma. In an effort to improve gas mileage I was thinking about buying GFC’s Wind Skid and mounting it upside down - so it filled the gap between the truck and the start of the RTT portion. Has anyone tried this? I thought it was an interesting idea since it would flip over and serve as a wedge in that dead area underneath the camper bed area. Any thoughts? Thank you.

Sorry I don't have an answer for you, but I'm just curious- how much has the GFC effected your gas mileage?

Are you ready for this?...my mpg went UP, but only during certain driving scenarios.
I had an open bed to start with, which is not fuel efficient. I would occasionally get 21mpg, but realistic driving was between 19-20mpg. I got 21.5 with my last tank with the camper on!
The weight of the camper is significant. I ended up installing an additional leaf spring. This made a world of difference. That probably helped with economy, but I never checked before installing the additional leaf. I also slowed my driving down a bit. I am seldom over 72mph on the highway and I think I am slower off the line and a little smoother with my shifting (6sp manual). So I think if you keep your highway driving to 68-70mph and take it easy a bit, you won’t see a major hit. I noticed it said 19mpg after a day of running errands around town yesterday. Not too bad. I honestly can’t believe it.

Doing anything to the front will have minimal effect due to the giant sucking hole that follows the box around. A "kammback", "boattail" like you see on semi trailers will be the most effective.

Also as previously stated slowing down a bit can have a pretty big improvement.

Also I’m looking to add a couple lp6’s up front of the camper. Seems like a great location to add light back from the hood to accentuate wide lighting on the trail at night but not wash out the Hood. I don’t have a clue about your miles per gallon question but maybe in a few months I will be able to contribute assuming production at GFC is on timeline

Also, I do have a wind skid on mine. I realize it’s not “necessary” on the GFC camper, but it looks awesome and the camper is almost 100% silent. That tells me it’s helping cut the wind a bit. Instead of ramming directly into that front extrusion.
