i purchased a tactical machining upper and im pretty stoked! got it for a good deal (in my book) and i am still looking for an upper and still open to recommendations. got my eyes on BCM 14.5" mid length right now

    very funny

    why?

obviously i was referring to the actual animal. i just remember someone telling me you cant hunt dear with .223. which im not trying to do anyways since i have a .303 and .308 for that

Looks like a nice lower, I have a spikes upper that I got a little while ago and I haven't finished building it yet but its really nice, and there customer service is amazing. But the BCM upper plus the bolt and charging handle is a great deal, that's what i would do but I'm no expert by any means

ar15.com has a lot of useful info.

I built my AR-15 a couple years ago by starting out with buying the stripped lower receiver. It is the only part that has a serial number, so it's the only part you have the background check run for. Everything else can be bought online and shipped to you (depending on your state laws). Buy the stripped lower, parts kit, grip, stock, put it all together yourself and then go to a gun show or bravocompany, Stag Arms, Rock River, etc and get a full upper, if you want. I build my myself with no prior experiance, and have fired 500 rnds through it so far without 1 problem.

Full of info look for "the chart"

You should think about increasing your budget, though but it can be done.

Here's your BCM 14.5 upper though (mine)
