After a long and hard decision I have came to the conclusion with my home purchase to trade in my 2015 Silverado Duramax high country with every option and 6" lift and 37" tires. It a big trade for me considering I just added the lift and tires.
I narrowed it down to a 2017 Tacoma limited in white. I really wish Toyota would let me build the truck I want. I would really like a limited with a fake hood scoop painted door handles rear diff lock and leather but that would be asking too much from Toyota I guess.
This will be Tacoma #4 my last three was a sport, trd and x runner all 2nd gens so I am very familiar with the trucks also 2 tundras.

Both trucks have pros and cons. But since I no longer have my camper or rzr I just don't need a truck that large and that much power and that has a horrible turning radius and parking problems in the city. All this was sparked from purchasing a new home this month and needing the spare coin for stuff needed around the house.

Already have a lift wheels and tires picked out for the truck. I want the predator strike package from FatBobs garage. Does anyone else have this lift besides the the original truck it went on? Trying to decide 285/70/17 or 285/75/17 Toyo R/T 17x9 -12 offset wheels, I find it kind of funny how people do the cab mod and cut up the frame. I think it would be easier with a large sledgehammer to beat the metal back but that's just me.

Comparing the 2nd gen 4.0 to the new 3.5 how is power really. The 4.0 was a turd after the 33" duratracs I had on it. I am not buying this truck for power but practicality. I will have another evo 8/9 or Turbo s2000 for my speed needs later on.

Yes the TRD pro would have been the truck but they dont have JBL sound :( which I thought was weird.

Jbl isn't all it's cracked up to be, and it's easier to upgrade a non jbl system later on.

Don't do it. Third gen power is all in the high end so you feel like you have to floor it to get it going, then the engine winds up to 5000rpms

Then why toss money after a lift, wheels, tires, etc?

Just use it as it comes.

I mean the 3" lift for this truck is simple compared to the 6" lift, the thing I hated the most was the turning radius after the lift. I plan on keeping this truck and going camping or off road a little. My other truck was just a pavement princess and had no business going off road really. I am ready for a better ride my 2500 rides like crap even before I lifted it.

The JBL is a requirement to me. I think is sounds perfect, I dont like to replace speakers because it seems like to me something never sounds right such as not enough mid treble or bass

Still not hearing what requires a lift/wheels/tires. These are quite capable stock.

And the turning radius is not exactly nimble. You might test one out first.

    Enjoy.

I tested the jbl and stock trd stereo back to back and I couldn't tell any difference. If you can afford the pro then I'd go that route and upgrade The speakers later

then get the truck you dont really want because of some speakers that are replaceable.
My non JBL system sounds pretty good compared to alot of other cars I have rode in or owned.

The only problem with the pro is the dealerships treat them like their own unicorns and wont budge on price because they claim they will only get 2 of them a year.

I am not trading the truck straight across. Since my duramax is paid for they are giving me a healthy check on top of the trade.

Ive went to 5 Toyota Dealerships to find the best trade pricing.

JBL on the third gen is worth it IMO, don't want to add a bunch of aftermarket wires and electronics, rip apart interior of truck etc. Never goes back together quite the same way it came from factory. Plastic fasteners and clips broken, headliner or carpets wont quite fit back in the way they came stock, etc.

They are quite capable yes, I go out in the sand quite often and would like the added clearance and be able to air down the tires for a larger footprint.

Ill have more then enough coming back to be comfortable with adding a few extras to the truck after the trade, I need a small dollar amount to finish up my loan. Then the rest is for essentials around the house.

This is exactly why, plus it is under warranty. Most car reviews always mention the JBL stereo is worth the upgrade as well or some mention how great the JBL is.

Good to know, I will ask about that shifting TSB

When adding the tech package to the TRDOR it puts it pretty close to the same ball park price as a limited. I like leather seats, and for a very minimal amount more I get the leather option. Although the new cloth black interior was a much needed upgrade from the grey.
I spilled a 42oz orange soda on the floor of my 2011 tacoma 3 days after I got it. lets just say that it did not mesh well with the grey.
